Rihanna Shows Off Newly Blonde Hair Amid New Album, ‘Love On The Brain’ Music Video Rumors [PICS]

Rihanna is no stranger when it comes to changing up her hairstyle, having rocked everything from fiery red locks to a bubblegum pink pixie, and now it seems that the “Needed Me” songstress has traded in her waist-length dreadlocks for a new ‘do—this time unveiling shoulder-length platinum blonde hair just days after returning to Los Angeles from a brief trip to London earlier this week.

Over the past few months, Rihanna has been sporting black, waist-length dreadlocks in honor of her new role in the upcoming all-female Ocean’s 8 film, however, it appears that Rih has temporarily retired her on-set look in exchange for blonde locks after debuting her new look via an Instagram video on December 18.

In the video, Rihanna can be seen donning an all-white ensemble complete with a brown and beige shearling coat and matching beanie while showing off her dance moves alongside best friend Leandra Simone, who shared the funny video to her personal Instagram account on Saturday.

“When u and ur best friend always late on a challenge but still manage to mess it up,” Simone wrote in the caption of her video before tagging Rihanna and Melissa Forde in her post. “@badgalriri.. @mdollas11 didn’t lie when she said we was bout to pass out how we both got tired the same time.”

While it’s unclear whether or not Rihanna’s new blonde ‘do, which fans have appropriately dubbed “blondanna,” is the result of a current film project or is indicative of an impending video from the songstress, fans were quick to point out that Rihanna recently returned from a brief, mysterious trip to London in which she could have been working on a new album, a music video for her newest single, or a recurring film project in the U.K. that could have sparked inspiration for her latest hair color change-up.

RELATED REPORTS BY THE INQUISITR

Earlier this year, Rihanna confirmed fan speculation suggesting that she has already begun work on her ninth studio album, tentatively titled R9, although neglecting to offer a tentative release date or status update for the project in her comment. With Rihanna having debuted new, edgy looks for nearly all of her new album releases, fans have already begun speculating that Rihanna’s newly blonde locks may be the result of an R9-related photo shoot or project for the coming year.

Similarly, other fans are holding out hope that Rih’s blonde ‘do may be the result of her work on a new music video, most likely for her most recently released single, “Love on the Brain,” although Rihanna has yet to confirm whether or not a music video for the track is currently in the works.

In addition, another observant fan pointed out that Rihanna was most recently spotted donning a platinum blonde getup when she appeared in the trailer for Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which is currently set for a July 2017 release, and that the songstress may have been working on a related promotional project for the film while on-location in London earlier this week.

This isn’t the first time that fans have swooned over Rihanna’s blonde hair; the songstress briefly rocked golden blonde locks during her “Diamonds World Tour” in 2013 and made the look a part of her promotional campaign for her “Nude” fragrance collection in 2012.

Rihanna also rocked the 54th Annual Grammy Awards in 2012 by pairing her platinum blonde curls with a sleek, plunging Giorgio Armani gown before drawing inspiration from Michelle Pfeiffer’s character in Scarface with a sleek blonde ‘do complete with bangs and a silky green gown during Stella McCartney’s London Fashion Week presentation in 2012.
