Conor McGregor Net Worth Will Increase In 2017: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Only One New Angle

Is Conor McGregor living the “high life” because he just found out he is making more money and his overall net worth in 2017 will be increasing?

Daily Mail reported around December 16 that Conor McGregor was seen partying in high style with his arm out of a car window in Malibu, California.

However, it is likely that Conor McGregor is celebrating because it appears that his net worth will be padded significantly by new 2017 career moves. For example, ESPN supports a rumor that says Conor McGregor could get another boost to his 2017 net worth because he might be getting a spot on the television show Game of Thrones.

According to UFC president Dana White, there are no details about how much it will add to his net worth, but Conor McGregor will appear in a 2017 Game of Thrones episode.

Dana White also pointed out that there may be more opportunities for commercial work coming up in 2017 to add to Conor McGregor’s net worth because his next fight is not until May.

There are also reports that Conor McGregor was given a sports license in California in November 2016, and there are rumors that McGregor planned to use the license to re-challenge Floyd Mayweather in 2017. When the California license was issued to Conor McGregor, there was another speculation that gives the impression that his net worth will continue to rise in 2018 if he decides to give up on the UFC.

WWE’s Paul “Triple H” Levesque was quoted in a December interview stating that Conor McGregor was definitely welcome at the WWE. Going to the WWE might be a temptation for Conor McGregor since much of the reason his net worth is frequently discussed is due to the lower percentage he gets for fights than his contract holders at the UFC.

Of course, one big question that remains is how net worth is calculated for someone like Conor McGregor. Contracts aside, Investopedia says net worth for someone like Conor McGregor is compiled from value of assets such as automobiles, collectibles, and properties.

In addition, someone like Conor McGregor could have other assets common to celebrities that have contracts that add to net worth such as life insurance policies (which might be high for an MMA fighter) and pensions set up in private accounts.

Conor McGregor’s net worth first gained notoriety when he made the Forbes 100 list for 2016. At the time, Conor McGregor’s wealth was divided into $18 million for contract work and $4 million in endorsements for a total of $22 million.

Alternatively, there are some conflicts in these numbers because it does not denote Conor McGregor’s overall net worth from previous years. For example, this figure of $22 million could be seen as being more of an estimate of how much Conor McGregor earned between June 2015 and June 2016.

In fact, Money Nation argues that it is more likely that Conor McGregor has only earned $18 million in his entire career, and this conflicts with estimates he has a net worth of $22 million as of mid-2016.

As it appears, Conor McGregor’s popularity will likely mean that he continues to grow his net worth in 2017 or 2018. Regardless, there is some mixed news that could affect Conor McGregor’s net worth if he loses popularity in America.

Although Conor McGregor was named by public voting as Sports Person of the Year by RTE in 2016, the irony is that some feel MMA fights might get banned in Ireland. This means if Conor McGregor decides to go home to set up shop, he might be defeated.

The cause of death for MMA fighter Joao Carvalho was officially declared around December 16, and the injuries have spurred a debate in Ireland concerning whether the MMA sports that gained Conor McGregor his net worth are safe or should be banned.

The Total Extreme Fighting match in question took place on April 9 between Joao Carvalho and Charlie Ward at the National Boxing Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. One of the spectators of the fight was Conor McGregor, according to Irish Mirror.

In August, MMA Fighting quoted Conor McGregor stating that the fight he witnessed with Joao Carvalho was astounding and admitted that he had more than a spectator connection with the incident.

Conor McGregor said, “I wasn’t just watching that fight. I helped train a guy to kill someone, and then someone wound up dying. This is a… dangerous game. People call it a sport, but it’s fighting. I’m just making sure it ain’t me… I still can’t believe that kid is dead.”

While some support the idea that Conor McGregor’s net worth will continue to grow, some in the MMA industry say he is a self-proclaimed “money lover.” ESPN quotes Ronda Rousey around December 15 stating that Conor McGregor needs to stop showing off his love of money.

About net worth, Ronda Rousey says that money should not be so important to Conor McGregor or anyone. Supporting her argument that Conor McGregor should rethink his angle on obsessing over his net worth, Ronda Rousey stated the following.

“The worship of money in our society is so deep. But just because that’s the easiest way to keep people’s attention or entertain them doesn’t mean that’s the right way.”

Ronda Rousey also said, “If money is the motivation, then f*** that. All these Money people… Money [Floyd] Mayweather, Money [Conor] McGregor. I see they’re trying to do an angle or whatever. People buy it.”

In Conor McGregor’s defense, he might have an obsession with net worth because he gets far less in his paycheck than the UFC investors get from his fights.

For example, MMA Junkie supports Conor McGregor’s November statements that he deserves more money from the new UFC owners because McGregor has made a big financial impact on the UFC.

Currently, at the end of 2016, Conor McGregor is alleged to earn an estimated $3 million in base pay with a percentage of pay-per-view dollars with the UFC.

It is likely that Conor McGregor could get his wish and dramatically increase his 2017 net worth because New York recently legalized fights like the kind Conor McGregor is famous for. In mid-November, Conor McGregor’s NYC fight earned $17.7 million.

Conor McGregor will likely continue to increase his net worth in 2017 and 2018 with endorsement contracts that last more than one year.

For example, Heavy states that Conor McGregor currently has endorsement deals with “Reebok, Fanatics, Monster Energy, Bio-Engineered Supplements and Nutrition (BSN), Bud Light, Rolls Royce and Electronic Arts.”

Another big boost to Conor McGregor’s net worth in 2017 would be a win in his proposed match against Floyd Mayweather. In November 2016, Conor McGregor said in a video filmed in a nightclub that he wanted $100 million for a fight in 2017 with Floyd Mayweather and stated he would do it “under boxing rules because he’s afraid of a real [MMA] fight.”

In his own estimations, Conor McGregor’s net worth will increase in lists produced in 2017 because he predicted at a UFC 2015 press conference that took place on September 27 that 2016 will be his “$40 million dollar year.”

On the other hand, fans might be delighted to give Conor McGregor as much of their money as possible because he likes to invest in good causes. For instance, DEBRA Ireland lists Conor McGregor on their wall of fame for promoting awareness of a rare disease called Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Other charities that Conor McGregor donated some of his net worth to include organizations that work with the homeless such as Focus Ireland and The Simon House.
