‘Gotham City Sirens’ — Megan Fox And Will Smith To Join Margot Robbie In ‘Suicide Squad’ Spin-Off?

While no date has been set for the release of Gotham City Sirens — a film on the fast track to join the DC Extended Universe with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn — rumors are already starting to spread about Megan Fox joining the cast as Poison Ivy and Will Smith making a cameo as Deadshot. With Wonder Woman and Justice League already scheduled to be added to the film franchise in 2017, it appears as though Gotham City Sirens will be released prior to a direct Suicide Squad sequel or a Deadshot spin-off.

What Do We Know About Gotham City Sirens So Far?

As detailed in the Hollywood Reporter, David Ayer, who directed Suicide Squad, will be working with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn once more for Sirens. The title of the film comes from a DC Comic series of the same name following the most infamous of Batman’s female rivals, including Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. The screenplay will be written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who also wrote scripts for Tomb Raider and Sherlock Holmes 3.

Chief Creative Officer of DC Comics Geoff Johns and Executive Vice President of Warner Bros. Jon Berg will be involved in the production of the film, as they have the three previous DCEU films. After Robbie received nearly universal praise for her portrayal of Harley in Suicide Squad, the Gotham City Sirens film has been fast-tracked.

Will Megan Fox Play Poison Ivy In Gotham City Sirens?

Soon after news broke that Gotham City Sirens was in development, rumors began spreading that Megan Fox would be a part of the cast as Poison Ivy. Gizmodo reports that these rumors started because Megan Fox was said to have expressed interest in the role previously and has received shipments of comics featuring both Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

While Megan Fox has never played a comic book character with superhuman powers in a blockbuster film before, she has experience in similar franchises. She played Mikaela in Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, as well as April O’Neil in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the sequel, Out of the Shadows.

Is Will Smith Going To Make A Cameo In Gotham City Sirens As Deadshot?

As reported by ComicBook, Will Smith commented on the possibility of making an appearance as Deadshot in Gotham City Sirens while being interviewed about Collateral Beauty. Smith had nothing but great things to say about the possibility of making a cameo.

“I’d definitely love to be in it. I love Margot Robbie. I will do… anything she wants to do.”

While that’s far from a confirmation, it’s certainly a good sign for fans who want to see more Deadshot in the DCEU. Luckily for those fans, Warner Bros. is already in the very early stages of development for a Deadshot spin-off. While no date has been set for the film, it will likely come sometime after Gotham City Sirens and Suicide Squad 2.

As noted by Mic, there will be plenty of great DC Comics cinematic content coming in 2017. Along with the aforementioned live-action films Wonder Woman (June 2) and Justice League (November 17), shows like The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow are expected to continue on The CW. Gotham continues to do well for FOX, and shows like iZombie, Lucifer, and Preacher are all shows also based on characters and stories from DC Comics.

Additionally, the animated film Justice League Dark will feature the likes of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. They have also announced an original animated film titled Batman and Harley Quinn.
