Sebastian Bach Reveals He Was The Guy Christina Applegate Ditched Brad Pitt For At The 1989 VMAs
Sebastian Bach’s memoir, 18 and Life on Skid Row, is full of rock ‘n’ roll anecdotes, but the former Skid Row frontman went into even more detail about some of his wild stories during a recent interview with Elliot in the Morning. During the radio interview, Bach revealed that he is actually the mystery guy that Christina Applegate ditched Brad Pitt for more than 25 years ago at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The Married with Children alum has been mum about the identity of the guy that she foolishly ditched Pitt for mid-date at the VMAs when she was just 18-years-old, but now Sebastian Bach is kissing and telling about their short dalliance.
“[What happened between me and Christina] was a brief fling, but we did go out a couple of times,” Bach told the radio show. “She was interviewed recently on, like, Entertainment Tonight or something, and they [asked], ‘What was the dumbest thing you ever did?’ And she goes, ‘One night I ditched Brad Pitt for this other dude.’ And that dude would be me.”
While Bach laughed off the diss, he did give his 1989 rock god self some props.
“So there was a time on this earth when Sebastian Bach was, like, a hotter lay than Brad Pitt. Of course, that’s going in the book! I’ve gotta tell somebody that, Jesus!” Bach laughed.

According to People, Christina, who was riding high on her Married with Children fame at the time, previously admitted that she abandoned Pitt in the middle of their date at MTV’s annual awards show.
“We went to the MTV Movie Awards and I ditched him,” she said. “I left with somebody else!”
Last year, Christina Applegate didn’t deny that she ditched Pitt at the 1989 VMAs, buts he didn’t confirm who her mystery guy was, either. Bravo host Andy Cohen tried to pin the actress down during a “Plead the Fifth” segment on his show, Watch What Happens Live, but a clearly uncomfortable Applegate refused to name Sebastian Bach as her secret fling, despite the fact that she used her “fifth” on a previous question.
“There was much talk of a date you went on with Brad Pitt to the MTV Movie Awards in 1989 in which you reported that you ditched mid-date, it says you ditched him for another guy,” Cohen said. “My question is who was the other guy you ditched Brad Pitt for?”
While Christina refused to answer (“How many fifths do I get?” she asked Cohen), she did reveal her secret guy was not an actor (actually, Sebastian Bach does have several acting credits), that they never actually dated, but that he was known to the public. She also said she never dated Pitt again after the faux pas.
Sebastian Bach dated longtime love Maria Aquinar throughout the 1980s and they welcomed their first son, Paris, in 1988 before tying the knot in 1992 and having two more kids together. It is unclear if Sebastian and Maria were together at the time that he met up with Applegate, but in an interview with Maximum Metal, Bach said if he could give one piece of advice to his younger self, it would be to not “cheat on the one you love.”
“When you’re young and dumb… you don’t think about love, but as you get older, love becomes extremely important,” Sebastian said. “From the older to the younger, I would say, ‘Love is precious and rare, and it should be cherished.’ That is what I would say.”
Sebastian Bach and his first wife divorced in 2010, and the rocker went on to marry Suzanne Le in 2015.
