Kimberly Guilfoyle Reportedly Under Consideration As Trump Press Secretary

Kimberly Guilfoyle of Fox News is reportedly being considered for White House press secretary in President-Elect Donald Trump’s administration.

Fan favorite Guilfoyle, a vocal Trump supporter and the co-host of the high-rated The Five, which airs on Fox News Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. Eastern, and where she often spars with Juan Williams and Greg Gutfeld, is apparently headed to the Trump Tower for interview number three this week after previous meetings with senior campaign members.

The former California prosecutor and First Lady of San Francisco, when she was married to then-Mayor Gavin Newsom (who is now his state’s lieutenant governor), Guilfoyle, 47, worked for Court TV and CNN before signing on with Fox News in January 2006.

If she took the press secretary job with the incoming president, the sassy single mom would have to uproot and move with her young son from New York City to Washington, D.C., which would be consideration for any family. Melania Trump, the president-elect’s wife, is said to be staying in Manhattan until son Barron finishes the school year.

According to Politico, Guilfoyle has some fans within the Trump transition team.

“Some in Trump’s inner circle have argued that Guilfoyle, who is half-Puerto Rican, would be a more sympathetic face when flacking some of Trump’s more divisive stances on immigration and pro-life issues. ‘Do you want a white male representing the White House when half the country thinks the President is a misogynist?’ said a Guilfoyle champion in Trump’s inner circle. Who do you want talking about Immigration? A Latino. When you have to make decisions about pro-life justices, do you want a man or a woman?'”

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the frequent commentator on The O’Reilly Factor and Hannity is the daughter of an Irish cop and a Puerto Rican schoolteacher and was born in San Francisco. She is a graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and includes modeling for the Victoria’s Secret catalog on her resume.

In the alternative, the Washington Examiner is reporting that Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer is supposedly getting the job, with a formal announcement as soon as tomorrow.

Others under consideration for the press secretary gig include Laura Ingraham, who already lives in D.C. but would have to give up her lucrative radio talk show career and other business pursuits, and campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson, who either way will presumably get a job in the administration in some capacity given her loyal service

Guifoyle’s The Five colleague, man-in-the-middle Eric Bolling, declined a position in the U.S. Department of Commerce, according to Mediaite. Regular viewers of the show may recall that shortly after Trump announced his presidential candidacy, an emotional Dana Perino accused Bolling on the air of supporting the New York real estate mogul only as a means for getting a spot on the Celebrity Apprentice.

Guilfoyle made no mention of the speculation on this evening’s broadcast.

Separately, Fox News analyst Monica Crowley is leaving the network to join Trump’s national security team under retired Gen. Michel Flynn, The Hill detailed. Crowley earned a Ph.D from Columbia University and worked closely with President Nixon in his later years. K.T. McFarland, another Fox analyst and former Reagan administration official, joined Flynn’s team last month as deputy national security adviser.

Should Megyn Kelly leave Fox for ABC News or CNN when her current contract is up, Guilfoyle is seen as a contender for the prestigious 9 p.m. Eastern time slot, an opportunity which would be ruled out if she joined the Trump administration as press secretary. Under normal circumstances perhaps, Andrea Tantaros would be Kimberly’s obvious replacement on The Five, if it ever comes to that, but former Five panelist and Outnumbered co-host Tantaros is in the middle of a bitter legal struggle with Fox that has been previously well chronicled and has probably burned her bridges.

Do you think that Kimberly Guilfoyle would make an effective press secretary for President-elect Donald Trump?
