HGTV’s Tarek And Christina Address Rumors About ‘Flip Or Flop’ Being Canceled

As most HGTV Flip or Flop fans know by now, Tarek and Christina El Moussa informed TMZ earlier this week that they are separated. The biggest question on HGTV Flip or Flop fans’ minds at this point is simple: will the show be canceled as a result?

The HGTV stars have opened up about their relationship and whether or not Flip or Flop would be canceled. First, here’s a little background on what happened for anyone who isn’t up to date on Tarek and Christina El Moussa news.

The relationship of the Flip or Flip couple took a turn for the worst in May of this year when the police responded to a call at the couple’s home of “a possibly suicidal male with a gun.” Witnesses at the scene claimed Tarek and Christina were fighting when Tarek removed his gun from his safe before running down a hiking trailer.

According to the witnesses, Christina then emerged from the house. She was shaking with tear-filled eyes. After police were called to the scene, a helicopter was used to locate Tarek in the woods. Tarek agreed to drop his gun and speak with the deputies about the situation.

The Flip or Flop star allegedly told the police he did not have any plans to harm himself with the gun. He claimed he just needed to “blow off some steam.” Tarek later went on to claim he just took the gun to protect himself from mountain lions and rattlesnakes in the woods.

As a result of the incident, police ended up searching Tarek’s home and seizing five guns, which included an AR-15.

Tarek and Christina Do Not Want The Show Canceled

The HGTV Flip or Flop couple released an official statement announcing the show would not be canceled. The couple claimed the production of Flip or Flop would continue just as it was scheduled to do so.

The announcement the HGTV couple made, however, left the fans of Flip or Flop with a lot of questions. Namely, how could Tarek and Christina El Moussa continue to work together on the show with everything that has happened?

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Tarek and Christina El Moussa opened up about how being on Flip or Flop was part of their professional life and that they would continue to be professional despite what was going on in their private life.

“We have been working towards this for the past five years, and, as you can imagine, fame is a mixed bag. We plan to continue our professional life together by being professional, by doing our jobs well, by being prepared and by working hard.”

In fact, the HGTV couple has been separated for eight months now and they have continued shooting new episodes and working on promotions for Flip or Flop despite being separated. Tarek and Christina do not believe fans need to worry about the show being canceled because they have already been working on the show for months before news of their separation went public. The HGTV couple has no reason to believe they can’t keep doing so to prevent the show from being canceled.

They Will Continue To Maintain Their Professional Lives

In addition to not wanting Flip or Flop to be canceled, Tarek and Christina El Moussa also plan to continue to work on their upcoming book titled Flip Your Life. The book is slated for release in March 2017.

Despite both Tarek and Christina dating other people since they separated, the two also have no plans of getting a divorce. The HGTV couple have stressed that every step they take during this time is not done until after careful consideration regarding what is in the best interest of their children.

“We have both dated other people following the separation, but neither of us is ready to announce anything in terms of another relationship.”

For now, the couple intends to continue to maintain their “professional life together” to the best of their ability, and Flip or Flop fans can rest easy knowing one of their favorite HGTV shows isn’t being canceled as a result of this separation.
