The paparazzi photographer who allegedly took both topless and bottomless photos of Kate Middleton is allegedly set to be arrested by the French police. Law enforcement officers claim to have finally identified the individual who snapped the nude photos of the Duchess of Cambridge. It is believed that up to 200 “intimate photos” were taken of Middleton, according to the UK Mirror.

Confirmation of the photographer’s name reportedly prompted the handing over of documents to police detectives in the alleged crime. The Kate Middleton nude photos were taken while she was on vacation at Chateau d’Autet in September. The secluded retreat is owned by the Queen of England’s nephew, Viscount Linley.

The topless photos were initially published in the French Closer magazine. Once the images made international headlines, they were subsequently used in publications in multiple countries, including Ireland and Italy. Prince William reportedly called for the paparazzi photographer who took the nude pictures of his wife, to be jailed. Strict privacy laws in France do allow for the possibility of jail time for the person who snapped the topless Kate Middleton photos.

Judicial police began investigating the incident after a court order was issued in Paris. The agency can hold an alleged criminal suspected of committing an offense. French law views photographers as “journalistic contacts” who are protected from identification.

A source reportedly close to the case had this to say during an interview with the Daily Mail:

“A name has been offered. The photographer is expected to be held for questioning imminently.”

Laurence Pieau, the female editor of French Closer, previously stated that Kate and William over-reacted to the publication of the topless photos. She reportedly feels that the images are not degrading and show a pretty woman who is very much in love with her husband.
