‘The Kite Runner’ Author, Khaled Hosseini Releases New Novel


author, Khaled Hosseini, will be releasing his third novel, And the Mountains Echoed, on May 21.

The novel from the pen of The Kite Runner author will be published by Riverhead Books, which is part of their parent company, Penguin Group (USA), who also published Hosseini’s first two novels, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.

On Monday, the publisher announced that the Afghan-born author’s third novel will be released in May, the Associated Pressreports.

The Kite Runner author said in a statement that he constantly returns to themes which are rich with family ties:

“I am forever drawn to family as a recurring central theme of my writing. My earlier novels were at heart tales of fatherhood and motherhood. My new novel is a multi-generational family story as well, this time revolving around brothers and sisters, and the ways in which they love, wound, betray, honor, and sacrifice for each other. I am thrilled at the chance to share this book with my readers.”

Hosseini, 47, is one of the most renowned authors in the world. Born in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1965, The Kite Runner author was the son of a diplomat and a Farsi and history instructor. His father was relocated to Paris in 1976 but returned to Afghanistan in 1980. By the time the family returned, a bloody communist coup which followed the Soviet invasion, had changed the nation and the Hosseini family sought refugee in the United States.

According to www.khaledhosseini.com,The Kite Runner author received his medical degree in 1993. While practicing, Hosseini began writing his first novel. His novels are published in more than 60 countries around the world. He began providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, in 2007 through the Khaled Hosseini Foundation.
