Sherri Papini Abduction And Jessica Roggenkamp’s Disappearance Share No Similarities, Say Police

The disappearance of Northern California woman Jessica Roggenkamp shares no similarities with the November abduction of Redding mom Sherri Papini, according to police, despite the two events taking place in the same general region.

Jessica, 44, was last seen on Saturday, December 10, at around 3 a.m., reports the Record Searchlight. Her 2010 black Ford Mustang was found off of Highway 36 in a remote area after she presumably changed a flat tire. According to authorities, a warden with the Department of Fish and Wildlife noticed the vehicle by the side of the road on Sunday night. Jessica’s Mustang was reportedly left unlocked with the keys still inside.

According to the Record Searchlight, Jessica was on her way to a friend’s home in Igo, taking with her a pillow and a sleeping bag. Police note, however, that she never made it to the residence of her friend. Additionally, Jessica has reportedly not used her cell phone since she vanished on Saturday.

Despite finding Jessica’s vehicle, the discovery that she never showed up at her friend’s residence, and the fact she has not used her phone since she went missing, Anderson Police Sgt. Casey Day says there is nothing suspicious about Jessica’s disappearance.

According to the Record Searchlight, Day said, “At this point, we don’t have any set of suspicious circumstances,” adding that authorities believe Jessica left and vanished voluntarily.

Sgt. Day further noted that Jessica’s disappearance had no similarities to Sherri Papini’s case.

Sherri, 34, vanished on the afternoon of November 2 after she headed out for a jog near her home in Redding, California. On Thanksgiving Day at around 4:30 a.m., she was found on the side of a highway after flagging down a motorist.

Sherri’s husband, Keith Papini, has spoken out publicly about the condition she was in after her ordeal, saying her long blond hair had been chopped off, her face was covered in bruises, her nose was broken, she had been branded, and she was emaciated weighing a mere 87 pounds.

Sherri told authorities her abductors were two Hispanic women with Spanish accents. According to ABC 10 News, Sherri described one suspect as being a younger female with a thick accent, long curly hair, thin eyebrows, and pierced ears. Sherri said the other suspect was an older female with thick eyebrows and straight black hair with gray in it. Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said Sherri stated the two women’s faces were covered most of the time she was around them.

Authorities are still seeking to find Sherri’s captors, but serial killer profiler John Kelly spoke to People about Sherri’s case and said this situation “has serial rapist, serial killer all over it,” as previously reported by the Inquisitr. He said that the person or persons who kidnapped Sherri have left her “scared to death” of them, prompting her to lie about her abductor’s identity.

Regarding Jessica’s mysterious case, on December 13, Anderson Police released a news brief noting her vehicle showed no signs of a struggle. The brief also states the area her Mustang was found, Trinity County, is not unknown to Jessica, as she visited the region with her daughter just after Thanksgiving.

According to Anderson Police, although it is believed Jessica disappeared of her own volition, the case is “still being investigated according to protocol.” There is no “information which is indicative of foul play…” and “there is no indication that this case involves an abduction or other like incident,” the news brief states.

Jessica is described as being about 5-foot-5, weighing around 122 pounds, and having brown eyes and brown hair.
