Michael Floyd Cut From ?Arizona Cardinals, Five New Teams Suggested

Michael Floyd has been cut from the Arizona Cardinals football team just a few days after he was allegedly found unconscious in a vehicle and may have been arrested on DUI charges. Despite this, there are many that see Michael Floyd as a talented athlete that will have no issues getting signed up on another NFL team.

On December 12, Review Journal alleged that Michael Floyd of the Arizona Cardinals may have been arrested on DUI charges while being “unconscious” in a vehicle.

A couple of days later, NBC Sports reported on December 14, that Arizona Cardinals coach, Bruce Arians, was “disappointed” about having to make a decision about whether to cut Michael Floyd following their loss to the Miami Dolphins on December 11.

Sadly, around mid-day on December 15, the verified Twitter account for the Arizona Cardinals published a short tweet that stated, “We have cut WR Michael Floyd.”

The linked article from that tweet was published on the Arizona Cardinals website. They stated their reasons for cutting Michael Floyd included hints that he might have been cut due to an alleged DUI, there are also other factors that could have contributed to him being cut from the Arizona Cardinals.

For example, AZ Cardinals said about the cut that “Michael Floyd was plagued by drops much of the season. He will end up with career lows in receptions (33) and yards (446), and became a non-factor. He had just five catches the past two games despite playing 139 of a possible 146 snaps.”

In fact, just as Michael Floyd had a comeback around November 14, he got a hamstring injury. On November 24, CBS Sports reported that the Arizona Cardinals were let down about Michael Floyd’s hamstring injury because he had already had a similar injury that season.

Of course, the Arizona Cardinals are feeling a lot of pressure outside of Michael Floyd, according to End Zone Score, because of their “disappointing fifth season.”

Regardless, there are a lot of suggestions published around December 15 that tell Michael Floyd to not give up hope after being fired by the Arizona Cardinals because there are other teams that would be happy to have him.

For example, NBC Sports suggested on December 15 that it will be easy for a new team to pick up Michael Floyd and states the following about his post-Arizona Cardinals career.

“Floyd will be subject to waivers, meaning any team that wants to pick him up for the rest of the season is free to do so. Floyd still has talent enough that some team in need of depth at wide receiver may just pick him up, and it’s possible that he could find himself playing a part on a playoff team.”

End Score Zone stated on December 14 that the possible teams they suggested for Michael Floyd’s post-Arizona Cardinals career could be “Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Cincinnati Bengals.”

Nevertheless, they also end with a warning to Michael Floyd that the Arizona Cardinals was a wake-up call, and he might be temporarily derailed in 2017, but “perhaps being cut by the Cards before the off-season will be a good thing for Floyd, as it will give him time to straighten things out.”

Their ending prediction is that if Michael Floyd can show he is clean in 2017, his days at Arizona Cardinals will be a distant memory and “it’s possible that he could land a big contract during the 2018 off-season.”

Another suggestion for Michael Floyd’s career after the Arizona Cardinals comes from the Battle Red blog. On December 14, they suggested that if Michael Floyd was fired from the Arizona Cardinals, Texas might be his next home. About this career move, they stated Michael Floyd would help fill a void in the roster for the Houston Texans.

If nothing works out for Michael Floyd after being cut by the Arizona Cardinals, there is always one team that could welcome him home. According to the AZ Cardinals, after Michael Floyd played a game with the Arizona Cardinals against the Minnesota Vikings, they stated he is from St. Paul and was somewhat of a local celebrity in high school.

Michael Floyd’s fame at the time was related to being a basketball and track star as well as All-American in football.
