DC Movies: Upcoming ‘Suicide Squad 2’ In Development, ‘Batman’ Shoots In 2017, ‘Deadshot’ Update, And ‘Gotham City Sirens’ Flick Coming Out

Some interesting news/updates regarding DC movies have been announced via Warner Bros. They have been touted as Suicide Squad follow-ups, according to the Hollywood Reporter, including Suicide Squad 2, which is still in development.

Then there is the Deadshot spinoff and the Gotham City Sirens movie featuring an all female cast that Suicide Squad director David Ayer will helm. Also, Ben Affleck confirmed the Batman solo movie will shoot during the spring of 2017, according to Batman-News.

“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together,” Affleck said. “We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”

It was also notable that Deathstroke’s Joe Manganiello said the very same thing during an interview a couple of months ago following a health condition. Thankfully, he was able to bounce back.

These DC movies are indeed something to look forward to in coming years. These films could delve into the cinematic version of what makes these particular villains tick, especially with the all-female cast of Gotham City Sirens. The latter will star Harley Quinn’s Margot Robbie, and she will serve as executive producer as well. Ayer will helm and produce the spinoff.

Harley Quinn/Deadshot/Deathstroke Rumors

As of a recent update, Suicide Squad 2 is still in development, but in the past, it had its share of rumors. Back in August, Deathstroke was rumored to be the antagonist of this DC movie. Additionally, David Ayer was rumored to have started work on the script back in July, and the project is scheduled to shoot during the spring of 2017. However, the film doesn’t have a release date as of this writing.

“Suicide Squad 2 production begins soon, Ayer started writing the script in July, expected to shoot late-spring 2017. Will reportedly be dialed back from SS1, with less CGI, a more human threat, and no pop music at all. Slightly lower budget. Deathstroke no longer in the works. Ayer wanted to use him in Suicide Squad 2, will have an antagonist role.”

Deadshot/Harley Quinn appeared to have some romantic chemistry in the first flick, according to the Inquisitr, and considering she’s pretty much broken her grip from the Joker, who knows where that will lead in Suicide Squad 2.

Will Smith even stated how Deadshot may have taken an interest in Harley.

“Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot’s actually eyeballing her a little bit. “There’s a pretty ragged romantic triangle there.”

An All-Female DC Villain Cast

DC movies are in abundance as of late, and the Gotham City Sirens are a part of this line-up. This is likely to be an adaptation of the recent Sirens series of DC Comics. The focus there was on the Rogues gallery, and the key characters were Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley.

Sherlock Holmes 3 and Tomb Raider remake writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet is set to pen the script.

There had also been rumors regarding romantic interests between that of Poison Ivy and Harley, according to Movie Pilot. The recent comic series indicated how both Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn had roomed together and later formed a romantic relationship, so there’s no telling if this will be adapted into one of the upcoming DC movies.

Would it not make sense considering that Fox’s own version of Harley, the rumored Barbara Kean, could wind up in a similar romantic relationship?

DC movies are running the gambit in 2017 and beyond projects. It would be interesting to note that the DCEU has something to look forward to. How do you think Robbie’s Harley Quinn will work with the rest of the lady villains? What is your take on a Deadshot/Harley Quinn romance?
