Bill Gates Claims Donald Trump Can Inspire ‘American Leadership Through Innovation’

President-elect Donald Trump has an interesting revolving door of visitors at Trump Tower, and this week, notably Bill Gates and Kanye West turned up to pay respect to the new president. While Kanye allegedly just wanted to “talk about life” with Trump, Gates wanted to get down to business, literally, with talk about how getting rid of regulatory barriers and organizing things will improve American life.

And photos show how tight security is at Trump Tower, especially now with the addition of the Secret Service. Gates was escorted to the private elevator and through the lobby without too much fan fair. The Secret Service was even able to blow the whistle on, and arrest, Ivanka Trump’s stalker who was staying a block away at a hotel, says the Inquisitr. Politicians and celebrities can feel safe popping into Trump Tower, as security is quite tight.

But the visit of Bill Gates to Donald Trump’s office seemed unusually positive, considering that Gates and his wife Melinda are very chummy with the Clintons and the Obamas. But Gates seemed to think great things can come from Donald Trump in the position of president, says Fortune. In fact, Bill Gates thinks that Trump has a chance to be like JFK.

Gates thinks Donald Trump’s manner of seeing that things aren’t as good as he’s like them to be, and finding a way to fix them could work for the betterment of the country.

“But in the same way President Kennedy talked about the space mission and got the country behind that. I think whether it’s education or stopping epidemics … [or] in this energy space, there can be a very upbeat message that [Trump’s] administration [is] going to organize things, get rid of regulatory barriers, and have American leadership through innovation.”

Gates says that he was pleasantly surprised to see how open Trump was to conversation on a host of topics.

TMZ weighed in, seemingly scratching their heads at the collective of people coming to “kiss the ring” of Donald Trump. In addition to the Microsoft billionaire, Kanye West came by, fresh from an alleged nervous breakdown, to share his own words of wisdom. Also stopping by Trump Tower, former NFL stars Jim Brown and Ray Lewis, who wanted to throw their two cents in.

Observers say that even though many of the people dropping by would have never voted for Donald Trump, the election results have caused many to change tack, and adjust to the upcoming administration. Reps for Bill Gates say that the Microsoft billionaire came with an agenda to discuss “innovation in energy, health and education, and American leadership in foreign aid.”

CNBC said that this is the first time that Gates and Trump actually spoke, but the two have a few mutual friends. The two largely spoke about needing to take a real leadership role. Gates says he was prompted to meet with President-elect Trump in person after a chat on the phone. Gates seems confident that there will be more talks along the way.

“I’m sure there will be further conversation.”

CNBC also quoted Gates as saying that he know that Trump likes a good deal, so he should like his plan to solve the clean energy problem.

“This administration likes a good deal. It’s not a huge part of the budget and yet it can help the economy just like shale gas has.”

But Gates says the conversation is on-going.

Do you think that Bill Gates and Donald Trump are odd bedfellows, or does it make sense to you?
