Selena Gomez Fails To Wish Taylor Swift A Happy Birthday On Instagram After Rumors Of A Feud

Selena Gomez made waves on social media on Tuesday, December 13 after she failed to wish her longtime friend Taylor Swift a happy 27th birthday.

While Swift received tons of support from friends, including Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt, and Gigi Hadid, who all shared special posts for the singer, Selena Gomez has remained completely silent in regard to Swift’s big day.

“There’s one Swift squad member that is surprisingly missing from this round-up: Selena Gomez,” Refinery29 revealed to readers on December 13.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have been extremely close to one another in recent years, and in 2015, they attended the MTV Video Music Awards together. Months later, they attended the 2016 Grammy Awards as one another’s date and walked the red carpet hand in hand.

Although some have assumed that Selena Gomez’s lack of a birthday message for Taylor Swift means that the two women may be involved in some sort of feud, Refinery 29 pointed out that Gomez hasn’t been very active when it comes to social media. As the outlet explained, the singer hasn’t posted anything on Twitter since August and when it comes to Instagram, she’s shared just one photo since she and Justin Bieber were involved in a highly-publicized feud on August 13.

In Selena Gomez’s first Instagram post in months, which was posted on Thanksgiving, she thanked many her fans for always being there for her.

“I have a lot to be thankful for this year,” Selena Gomez wrote in her post. “My year has been the hardest yet most rewarding one yet. I’ve finally fought the fight of not ‘being enough’. I have only wanted to reflect the love you guys have given me for years and show how important it is to take care of YOU. By grace through faith. Kindness always wins. I love you guys. God bless.”

Since her Thanksgiving photo was shared, Selena Gomez has not returned to Instagram. That said, her potential drama with Swift likely doesn’t exist. As Refinery29 noted, Swift shared a video of herself reacting to Selena Gomez’s win at last month’s American Music Awards, revealing that she has nothing but support for her friend.

“[Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift] haven’t been seen together a lot as of late, but that doesn’t mean there’s a rift between them. Just last month, Swift posted a video to Instagram that had her absolutely freaking out over Selena Gomez’s win at the American Music Awards… she couldn’t stop screaming in excitement,” the outlet revealed.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have shown no signs of a ruptured friendship, but weeks ago, an OK! Magazine report claimed Swift was focusing on her friendships with other people, including model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne.

“She’s bored and looking for a new challenge, starting with her social life,” the magazine’s insider said. “As much as she loves the girls in her squad, Taylor’s not so close with the likes of Karlie [Kloss] or Selena [Gomez] these days, which is why she’s been hanging with Cara as well as cleaner-living pals like Blake Lively.”

The insider went on to reveal that Delevingne is “all about partying and letting loose” and claimed Swift was hoping to “go clubbing and meet some hot guys as well as some of Cara’s hip fashionistas.”

In recent months, Selena Gomez has kept an extremely low profile. As fans of the singer will recall, she announced the end of her “Revival World Tour” in August and embarked on a weeks-long career hiatus after she did so. Since then, the singer has been seen just a few times in Los Angeles.
