Ariana Grande Did Not Replace Hugh Jackman As Her Own Father

Ariana Grande may think actor Hugh Jackman is a “cool dad,” but that doesn’t mean she wants to replace him with her own father. The entertainer has since reunited with her estranged father shortly after she was spotted with the Wolverine star over the weekend.

The 23-year-old singer posted a touching photo of her father Edward backstage at her Jingle Ball performance. Grande headlined KISS 108’s Jingle Ball 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts, on Sunday, December 11, reports Just Jared. She took to Instagram to share a photo of herself bundled up in a black winter coat and resting her head on her father’s shoulder. Grande told her fans that her father came to see her perform on both Hairspray Live and Jingle Ball.

Ariana previously told Seventeen magazine back in 2014 that she had a falling out with her father.

“Falling out of touch with my dad [was the toughest thing I’ve ever dealt with]. It’s private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it,” she admitted.

The “Dangerous Woman” singer talked about her journey towards forgiveness, which is something she learned from her own father.

“The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”

Grande has also dealt with issues in her personal life while maintaining her public image, which she admits is a challenge in itself.

“It’s tough to spend some of the most important years of your life in front of so many strangers who want to pick you apart,” she told Seventeen. “Insecurity has been the hardest thing I’ve had to overcome. I think everyone my age struggles with that because everyone strives for approval and wants to feel loved.”

Before the interview, the singer lost her beloved grandfather Frank, and she had to tell her brother, Frankie Grande, via a written letter while he was filming in the Big Brother house.

“I’m having the biggest song of my career so far, and all I can think about is my grandpa, because that’s what’s so important to me,” she said in the interview before his passing.

Grande made time for her dad and found a new one over the weekend. The singer was spotted backstage with Hugh Jackman at Z100’s Jingle Ball on Friday, December 9 in New York City, reports Just Jared. The 48-year-old Oscar-nominated actor stopped by Grande’s dressing room inside Madison Square Garden to take a fan photo.

“@arianagrande aside from the fact that you’re awesomely talented…thank you for unofficially making me a cool Dad,” Hugh captioned the photo of the two hugging each other.

In the photo below, Grande is seen wrapping her arms around the father-of-two as she gives her signature pout for the camera. The Australian actor smiles for the camera in a black long-sleeved T-shirt while Grande rocks furry earmuffs, a puffy jacket, and her signature high ponytail, according to the Daily Mail.

Grande also took to Instagram to share another photo of the two together. This time, her mom, Joan Grande, is seen sandwiched in between the two and looking quite happy. Even Grande joked about having Jackman as her new dad.

“So glad we got our family Christmas photo in last night jk that’s not my dad,” Grande jokingly wrote, “that’s Hugh Jackman (merry Christmas, mom).”

The singer took the stage at Jingle Ball this past weekend to show off her good and bad side while she performed her Christmas and Chill medley — the six-track holiday EP she released last year, reports Idolator.
