Duggar Family News: Pregnant Jessa’s Instagram Ruins ‘Counting On’ Twins Teaser, Facebook Photo Causes Cooking Debate

Fans of the Duggar family don’t have to wait to two more months to find out if Jessa Duggar is pregnant with twins. Jessa recently shared an Instagram update on her pregnancy, and what she chose to post took the suspense out of a teaser for the upcoming season of Counting On.

In a scene that will air during Season 3 of the TLC reality series, Jessa tells the Counting On cameras that she and her husband, Ben Seewald, don’t know how many babies she’s pregnant with. As the Independent Journal Review reports, Jill Duggar is also shown using a fetal doppler on her sister. Jill teases that Jessa may be pregnant with twins by saying that she’s unsure whether she’s hearing one or two heartbeats.

“We don’t know if it’s twins or just one. It could be just one baby with good variability in the heart beat or it could be two different babies.”

This video clip was likely meant to keep fans of the Duggar family in suspense until February, which is when Jessa’s due date is, according to People. Season 3 of Counting On will premiere next month, so the plan is probably to film a special birth announcement for the show whenever the second Seewald baby arrives. However, now fans won’t be waiting on the edges of their seats to find out whether Jessa has given birth to twins. The sonogram photo that she posted on Instagram clearly shows only one baby.

As E! News reports, Jessa and Ben also teased that they were having twins last April when they were expecting their first child. However, it’s a good thing they only had one baby. They had such a hard time choosing a name for Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, they didn’t announce his moniker until one week after he was born.

Jessa and Ben revealed that their son is named after “heroes from the Christian faith,” so they may follow the same theme when choosing a name for their second child.

Taking care of two very young children might be stressful, but Jessa Duggar is ready for the task as she’s been caring for multiple children since she was just a child herself. As Crushable reports, Michelle Duggar talked about using her daughters as free child care in the 2004 special, 14 Kids and Pregnant Again. Michelle admitted that she expected her older daughters — Jana, Jill, Jessa, and Jinger — to care for the baby Duggars as soon as they were weaned.

According to the Duggar Family Blog, the four girls were tasked with taking care of “buddy teams” composed of their younger siblings. They were also expected to make lunch and dinner for their massive family. However, three of the Duggar daughters who did all this work have gotten married and moved out, leaving Jana and Joy-Anna as the only female daughters over age 11 still living with their parents. This may be why 17-year-old Jedidiah Duggar and a friend were recently photographed making “Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas” in the Duggars’ kitchen. It’s possible that the Duggars have started asking their teen sons to cook now that so many of the girls are gone.

Some commenters on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page responded to the picture by pointing out that the Duggar parents are rarely seen in the kitchen.

“Just wondering why is it that the kids are always doing the cooking, cleaning and watching out for the little ones, what the heck does mom and dad do???” one fan wrote.

“Nothing,” another fan responded. “Jill cooked before she married and Jess taught school. 3 girls and gramma did the laundry. The kids cleaned the bedrooms, even mom and dad’s bedroom. The kids are very good. To be fair, ladies like Michelle wear out their bodies and really haven’t much energy during childbearing years.”

Other fans argued that it’s a positive thing that the Duggar kids are given so many responsibilities.

“Get real people! It’s a family that works together which all families should do!” one commenter wrote.

Do you think the Duggar family has started relying on the older boys to do a lot of the cooking now that Jill, Jessa, and Jinger have moved out? Or do you think Jana and Joy-Anna are making most of their family’s meals? Share your thoughts below.
