Ryan Reynolds Finally Explains The Taylor Swift Photo — Here’s Why He Wasn’t Experiencing Taylor Swift Joy

As Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds‘ fans may recall, a rather perplexing photo surfaced on Instagram several months ago. The photo featured Taylor Swift with Tom Hiddleston, a few of Taylor’s friends, and Ryan Reynolds with his wife Blake Lively.

It was the Fourth of July and Taylor Swift was celebrating. In addition to the fireworks and the water slide, there was this unforgettable photo. The photo featured three men including Tom and Ryan with a lovely lady sitting in each of the men’s laps.

At a distance, the Instagram photo featuring Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds certainly looks innocent enough.

However, if you take a closer look at the photo – more specifically at Ryan’s face – you will notice he isn’t experiencing a lot of what The Huffington Post referred to as Taylor Swift joy. Why wasn’t Ryan feeling the “Swiftie joy”? Was something wrong with him? The Internet slowly began to buzz with questions.

It didn’t take long for Instagram, Twitter, and other social media platforms to stir with what had or had not transpired around the time of the photo. Why was it that Ryan Reynolds looked so unamused to be celebrating the Fourth of July with Taylor Swift?

Per The Huffington Post, it didn’t take long for the Internet to buzz with questions regarding whether or not Ryan Reynolds was being held against his will at this celebration. Was he a hostage? Is it possible he didn’t want to be celebrating the Fourth of July with Taylor? Were he and Taylor Swift not on good terms?

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryan revealed the face he was making in the Taylor Swift photo that went viral was nothing more than the result of a poorly timed photo. He claimed his fans and Taylor Swift’s fans read way too much into his facial expression.

According to Reynolds, he was not aware the photo was even being taken. Entertainment Weekly asked Ryan if he was upset when the photograph was taken and he claimed that he wasn’t. In fact, he said that was just how his face looks when he isn’t posing for a picture.

“No that’s a problem I’ve had all my life. If I’m not aware a photo is being taken, my natural resting face is one of a man dying. I had no idea somebody was taking a photo. Therefore I was resting comfortably in my persona of a man whose soul is visibly exiting this earth.”

The Taylor Swift photo isn’t the only topic of conversation when it comes to Ryan Reynolds lately. Recently, he and his wife gave birth to their second child. According to PEOPLE, Ryan claims his new daughter is the spitting image of her older sister.

“You can see that she’s a little mini version of our older girl. But, no, it’s great. It’s like an actually cohesive, working, functioning family.”

Ryan also opened up about how “incredible” it was to watch his oldest daughter – who turns two in six days – taking care of her new younger sister. He claimed the Lion King was right and “the circle of life does exist.”
