Mariah Carey Admits To Using Her Left Hand And Hair As A Distraction From The Left Side Of Her Face

Mariah Carey has revealed why she favors the right side of her face. While getting her makeup done by MUA Kristofer, Mariah opened up about the time she was told early on in her music career that her right side is her “good side.”

According to E! Online, Mariah said she was 19-years-old when a lady on set told her which side she should be photographed on. Carey, 46, was also told to use her left hand as a distraction from the left side of her face. Many of Carey’s album covers show the songstress turning to the left so you can only see the right side. Carey is also frequently spotted facing forward, with her bangs covering the left side.

“This is your good side, only let people photograph you from your good side, ever.”

The photo shoot changed Mariah Carey’s life forever. After hearing this, Mariah admits that she “didn’t like” photos taken from her left side.

“Maybe you had a crappy photographer,” the makeup artist suggested to Mariah.

“I think I did and makeup artist… And I stuck to it because that was her job.”

Mariah admitted, “I don’t hate it when it’s well-lit, they just have to light it.”

Mariah Carey places heavy value on her legs and multi-million dollar voice as well. Carey had her legs and vocal chords insured for $70 million, according to TMZ.

Mariah Carey has sold more than 200 million records worldwide, according to the Daily Mail. Carey has an impressive vocal range that extends five octaves. Carey revealed in 1998 how she could hit so many notes. Carey claims it was the result of nodules on her vocal cords, according to the Daily Mail.

“A lot of people couldn’t sing through the nodules the way I do… I’ve learned to sing through my vocal cords. It’s a certain part of the cord that not many people use — the very top.”

Carey discussed her new reality television show to ITV’s Lorraine, according to the Daily Mail.

“I think it’s nice to see a different side – who cares at this point – if they don’t like it they don’t have to watch it.”

Mariah then revealed she wasn’t frightened about putting her life out there for her new reality television show, Mariah’s World. Rather, she was excited.

“‘I was excited because it’s so interesting to put together a tour and hopefully people are going to enjoy it.”

Mariah then confessed that she took a peek at some footage before it aired. Carey is also pleased with how her show has been received by her fans.

“I should have watched everything but there’s so many things that I was like I can’t watch this right now, there’s a lot of good things.”

Mariah Carey has been getting closer to her new boyfriend, Tanaka, who has already confessed he “loves” the “Infinity” singer and shared the details of their first meeting at the premiere party for Mariah’s World at Catch NYC this past weekend. Tanaka first met Carey in 2006 when he was a backup dancer during her “Adventures of Mimi” tour.

“She came out all looking gorgeous and everything. But it was great we said Hi real quick and we got back to work.”

Bryan says the first contact with Mariah inspired something inside of him.

“Something connected with us back in the day and there was just a mutual admiration… She saw something in me that I actually didn’t recognize at first, from that it was over. It was set in history that we were gonna be connected some way, some how.”
