WWE News: Ric Flair Pushes For Charlotte Vs. Ronda Rousey At ‘WrestleMania 33’, Says Brock Lesnar Will Beat Goldberg In Rematch

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has decades of knowledge and experience under his belt, and the 16-time World champion shared some of his ideas and suggestions for WrestleMania 33‘s “dream matches” in a recent episode of his podcast. Flair also cited his own sources in predicting the outcome of a Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar rematch, should it take place at the event.

WrestleMania 33 is still four months away, but the rumor mill has been busy as ever with reports on what matches could take place at the event. Aside from the Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match that a lot of people are expecting to see, there is also talk of non-wrestlers showing up and maybe even competing in matches.

For instance, there’s Shaquille O’Neal versus Big Show, a match that was confirmed earlier this year, according to CBS Sports. There have also been rumors of UFC standouts Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey showing up at WrestleMania 33, and it’s Rousey’s rumored appearance at the event that interests Ric Flair the most. That’s mainly because he sees the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion as a potential opponent for his daughter, Charlotte Flair.

On the latest episode of The Ric Flair Show, the legendary performer offered some fantasy booking insights for WrestleMania 33, and he listed some dream matches of his own. These included Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey, a match between the self-proclaimed Queen of women’s wrestling and the woman who had dominated UFC’s bantamweight scene prior to her loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015.

In quotes from the podcast published by Wrestling Inc, Flair said that the odds of such a match happening would depend on whether Rousey can defeat reigning bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 later this month. But he remained confident that Charlotte would have a prominent role at WrestleMania 33, regardless of whom she gets to face.

“I would love to see Charlotte, my daughter, against Ronda Rousey, which I think would be huge. I know she’ll be in a main event somewhere and I think they could make that work. But, as (co-host Conrad Thompson) and I both know, Ronda has to win this month (at UFC 207) or her credibility would be hard to sell, so I just know Charlotte will be in a main event somewhere.”

Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey isn’t the only WrestleMania 33 dream match the “Nature Boy” is hoping to see. Ric Flair added that he thinks Shane McMahon vs. Triple H would be a match the WWE Universe would want to see, with the chairman’s son and SmackDown Commissioner going up against his own brother-in-law in a battle of on-air authority figures.

“I think the biggest match people want to see, but I’m not sure it’ll happen, will be Shane McMahon against (Triple H). I said that last week. I mean, that would knock you off your chair and that’s not a job for a chair.”

As for Bill Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, Ric Flair believes that if their rematch pushes forward at WrestleMania 33 as rumored, it should be Lesnar pulling off the win, and taking Goldberg to “Suplex City.” Goldberg stands out as the only man to have beaten Lesnar twice, doing so at WrestleMania XX in 2004, and once again at Survivor Series 2016, where he defeated Brock in just 86 seconds.

“Let me tell you this, if it’s Brock and Goldberg, which I think it is, it’ll be a lot different than what we saw last month. I’ve always said, I love Bill. They’ve got him over big time, but he’ll be in Suplex City in Orlando if my information is correct.”

Ric Flair did have some interesting matches to propose, and even a potential spoiler for Goldberg vs. Lesnar III, assuming it happens at WrestleMania 33. But it’s all fantasy booking at this point in the game, and a lot could happen before the event takes place in April 2017.
