Park Bo Gum Calls Song Joong Ki And Song Hye Kyo ‘Almighty’ Couple, Will They Take Home KBS Crown?
Park Bo Gum believes that the “almighty Song-Song” couple will take home the crown at the upcoming 2016 KBS Drama Awards. The prestigious event will take place on New Year’s Eve, and several pairs, including Descendants of the Sun pair Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo, are nominated for the Best Couple Award.
Although Park Bo Gum himself and Kim Yoo Jung could nab the award because of their roles in Moonlight Drawn by the Clouds, the actor said via Soompi that Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo deserve to win.
“There’s the almighty Song-Song couple, right behind,” he declared.
While the actor is grateful for his career, he also admitted that fame comes with a price.
“I can’t take the subway anymore. I think I can still take the bus, though. It’s a double-edged sword because I’m grateful that people recognize and support me, but there are definite downsides to that.”
Korean celebrities caught in “hallyu” or the Korean pop culture phenomenon can attest to Park Bo Gum’s statement. In a previous interview with various reporters, including the ones from Asia One, Song Joong Ki said it’s sad how the privacy of people close to him was jeopardized.
“To be honest, I’m a little upset these days. My family has been exposed to the media. Some people break into our house. My ex-girlfriend’s photos are circulating online. To say that these are things I need to endure for the sake of celebrity, that’s sad. I want to respectfully request that my private life remain private.”
He also said that even if Descendants of the Sun was a huge success, he doesn’t want to be known as someone whose good values have changed.
“My appearance has also changed a lot since my early acting days. Our company’s profits have soared; our managers are so happy these days. All things aside, though, I try to stay true to myself. People say I’m a hallyu celebrity now, but I don’t really feel that way.”
For him, he is only famous at the moment and that the “real stars” are Song Hye Kyo and Lee Kwang Soo. Apart from his charisma and acting skills, Song Joong Ki’s humility is another reason that makes fans adore him. He was recently voted by consumers as their most favored endorser in a poll conducted by the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corporation.
Song Joong Ki got 16 percent of the total votes. Following his role as Captain Yoo Si Jin in the hit drama Descendants of the Sun, he’s been chosen to represent a wide spectrum of products. He is similarly Korea’s current tourism ambassador.
It remains unknown if Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will reunite for a future project. Ever since their series ended, fans of the two have been hoping for a Descendants of the Sun Season 2 even if the show’s director and scriptwriter have already switched networks.
Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo choose not to address the speculations about their real-life status. Even if they continue to remain hush about such rumors, the little things that they do for each other are already enough for the fans including the instance where Song Hye Kyo sent a coffee truck to Gangwon province. Song Joong Ki had to stay there to film Battleship Island.
Fans who miss seeing Song Joong Ki on television can tune into the KBS sitcom The Sound of Your Heart, where he will have a cameo. As per the show’s producers, he will appear in the first and last episodes as the “quintessential handsome and warm-hearted guy.”
