Blaque’s Natina Reed, 32, Hit By Car And Killed In Atlanta

The girl-group Blaque’s Natina Reed, who also starred in the 90s hit Bring It On, was killed early today in what was initially reported to be a hit-and-run accident in Atlanta, Georgia.

Natina Reed’s 33rd birthday would have been tomorrow, but the R&B star’s former bandmates have confirmed her death after the accident at approximately 11 pm last night.

Details about the accident that killed Reed are not currently known, but her Wikipedia indicates that the accident was not a hit-and-run as originally reported. No source for the information is cited on the entry, but it reads:

“Natina was struck by a car around 11pm on Fri October 26, 2012. The couple that was driving stopped and called the police. It was not a hit and run. Paramedics came but they could not revive her.”

The origin of the conflicting information originally reported about the death of Natina Reed is not currently clear either, nor is it known whether the incident is currently under investigation.

Reed is survived by a son with her former fiance, rapper Korupt, a 10-year-old boy named Tren Brown. Natina Reed’s sudden death calls to mind the sudden and far too early loss of the R&B star and rapper to whom she was considered a protege, fellow Atlanta resident Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. Lopes herself was killed in a car accident in Honduras in at the age of 30.

Celebrity reaction to the loss of Blaque’s Natina Reed on Twitter this morning included shout outs from actress Gabrielle Union, Questlove of The Roots and Russell Simmons:

Shamari DeVoe, bandmate of Reed, confirmed her passing, tweeting:
