‘Assassin’s Creed III’ Is Free For PC Users — Find Out How To Get Your Copy

Video game producers Ubisoft are getting into the holiday spirits with another anniversary video game giveaway, this time offering up free copies of Assassin’s Creed III to PC users. This Assassin’s Creed III deal isn’t some imitation game found in the bargain bins of department stores. The Ubisoft game is normally $19.99 and up, depending on where it’s purchased, so even the casual gamer would be hard-pressed to pass up a giveaway like this. The giveaway may be an effort on Ubisoft’s part to raise interest in advance of the Michael Fassbender-led live action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, due to hit theaters in just over a week. Even as Fassbender takes his own bold stance in defense of the Assassin’s Creed film, there is still time to obtain your free copy.

A real bargain is hard to come by these days, but, as CNET reports, that’s just what Ubisoft is offering to gamers with their Assassin’s Creed III giveaway and it’s coming just in time for Christmas. The CNET writer, Rick Broida, mentions that he did experience some difficulty in getting through the redemption process and that those interested in receiving the free game must first register for a Ubisoft Club account, but persistence eventually paid off. Broida says it took him four or five tries, before he finally achieved success.

Also required to play the game is the Ubisoft’s Uplay PC client software on your computer, which may not be an inconvenience at all for regular Ubisoft users.

The minimal inconvenience caused by registering and installing the game maker’s software may be well worth it. When Assassin’s Creed III was released in 2012, video game critics and players alike hailed it as one of the best games of the year. A well-developed plot and accurate historical detail come together to create an action-oriented experience, as players find themselves dropped into the midst of the American Revolutionary War.

To get started on the process, simply go to the Ubisoft Club site and begin the registration process. Before long, you’ll be playing Assassin’s Creed III for free!

Assassin’s Creed Star Michael Fassbender Laughs In The Face Of The Video Game Curse

It has been said that video games don’t successfully translate into film and there’s evidence to prove that. Just look at the short-lived franchises of Tomb Raider and Silent Hill for two prime examples. Even the Resident Evil franchise didn’t perform as well as expected, yet Just Jared reports that Michael Fassbender, who stars in the soon-to-be-released Assassin’s Creed live-action film, isn’t at all concerned about a box office flop.

Fassbender says he wasn’t even aware of the supposed video game curse until he began promoting Assassin’s Creed and reporters began telling him about the history of video game adaptations and their dismal box office appeal. Michael says finding out about the curse set him to looking into the history of similar films, but he still stands behind his Assassin’s Creed work.

“It’s only a curse until somebody makes a good one, and then it’s a different story,” says Mr. Fassbender.

Michael adds that he judged the Assassin’s Creed script on its own merits, commenting that he found it to be an exciting, compelling story. He adds that he never once paid any attention to the concept of a curse, because those kinds of worries are pointless. Fassbender points out that dwelling on the ways in which a film might fail is counterproductive.

“Only you can do is focus your energies and try to make something good,” says the Assassin’s Creed star. “Stressing about things like that don’t get you anywhere.”

Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons, hits theaters on December 21.
