‘Need For Speed: Most Wanted’ Coming To Wii U Next Year

EA and Criterion’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted is just a few days away from releasing on PC, PlayStation 3 PlayStation Vita, and Xbox 360, but it was never clear if a Wii U version would be available around the console’s launch or some point after.

Fortunately for racing fans who plan on picking up Nintendo’s latest console, it will be.

Over the weekend, EA confirmed that Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be making its way to the Wii U following the release of the console and PC versions.

It won’t be around come the Wii U’s launch, however; EA told Polygon that it won’t be coming until next year.

“We are very excited to deliver Need for Speed: Most Wanted on more platforms and to more gamers,” a representative for EA told the site. “Starting Oct. 30, Most Wanted will be available on X360, PS3, PS Vita, Android and iOS. Then in 2013, Nintendo fans will be able to experience what it means to be Most Wanted amongst their friends on the Wii U.”

EA wouldn’t say whether or not the Wii U version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted would have any exclusive features or improvements, nor would they say if the Wii U version can take advantage of cross-platform bonuses by way of the game’s “CloudCompete” feature.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the latest entry in the storied racing franchise, and marks the second title developed by Criterion, the studio responsible for the popular Burnout series.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted takes place in an open world, akin to Burnout Paradise, and leverages the Autolog feature introduced in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit to create a social-driven open world racer.
