WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns Defeats Chris Jericho, But Will Seth Rollins Do The Same At ‘Roadblock’?

These days, it’s almost impossible to mention any kind of WWE rumors without talking about Roman Reigns. And thanks to a shocking episode of Raw last night, featuring none other than Roman Reigns, Roadblock — the last Raw exclusive pay-per-view event of the year — is shaping up to be an exciting battle royale.

According to the latest WWE rumors put out by the International Business Times UK, Roman Reigns was able to defeat Chris Jericho last night after delivering a pinfall with a spear onto Jericho. But that wasn’t all: Reigns’ former Shield stablemate Seth Rollins taunted Jericho’s BFF Kevin Owens and asked how his friendship with the legendary wrestler was going. Owens responded by saying that sometimes BFFs fight (which is something that Rollins wouldn’t know, according to Owens, because he has no friends), and he felt that he deserved the Universal title. The only reason, Owens said, that he didn’t have the title was because he got distracted with keeping his eye on Jericho.

And to that end, Kevin Owens announced that Seth Rollins will be facing off against Chris Jericho during Roadblock. While Rollins is certainly a good fighter, the question remains: Will he be able to beat him? And more to the point: Is this new feud going to hold the audience’s attention now that Rollins’ feud with Triple H seems to be scrapped?

According to the latest WWE rumors from Bleacher Report, that’s exactly the way things seem to be going. Even though this is the first time that Rollins and Jericho are going head-to-head in a singles contest, they’ve been fighting against each other indirectly for years.

And Bleacher Report goes one step further: They’re suggesting that this battle between Rollins and Jericho is just a set-up for even bigger fights between the two — namely, at both the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania 33. And though it looks as if Rollins is finally starting to come into his own, there’s an even bigger suggestion at play: that all of this is part of Rollins’ play for the Universal title currently being held by Kevin Owens. However, there’s a chance that, by the time Rollins starts his title run, it will be Reigns, not Owens, who holds the Universal title. Does that mean that the two former Shield teammates will be battling it out against one another?

According to Forbes‘ latest round of WWE rumors, that’s exactly what might happen. But first, WWE creative has to get rid of all of the other ancillary “beef” between Rollins and other fighters, because it’s all starting to become really messy. Rollins soundly defeated Big Show on last night’s Raw (and Rollins has, in part, Owens to thank for that, because Big Show didn’t leave the ring until Owens barked at him), and his feud with Triple H seems to be in a bit of a holding pattern.

If WWE creative can figure out a way to get rid of all the ancillary nonsense, there could be a fatal four-way happening between Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, and Kevin Owens. Now that will make for some good television!

“It’s only logical to expect some sort of match to take place that includes all four of them. It won’t happen at Roadblock because Reigns is facing Owens and Rollins will battle Jericho, but a Fatal four Way for both titles would be an epic clash at the Royal Rumble in January.”
