Conor McGregor Leaving UFC For ‘Game Of Thrones’?

Conor McGregor is on top of the world nowadays. With his UFC career in full swing and dozens of potential offers outside of mixed martial arts, the opportunities just keep pouring in. The latest Conor McGregor rumor has him leaving the UFC and headed to Westeros, as the brash fighting Irishman is set to take a role in Game of Thrones.

According to The Irish Mirror, there are already talks for Conor McGregor to star in HBO’s Game of Thrones. The rumor is going to place Conor McGregor in one of the last two seasons of the hit fantasy TV series. This is according to a quote from a source with inside knowledge to Conor McGregor’s business dealings.

“It’s been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of Game of Thrones. He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”

While most fans would automatically assume that this latest Conor McGregor rumor is a little bit absurd. Considering the current UFC lightweight champion’s penchant for the limelight makes this a highly plausible story. Conor McGregor has already made public his desire to get out of the fight game fast while making the most money. Add the fact that Conor McGregor has not been a model employee for the UFC lately.

Conor McGregor recently acquired a license to box at California, according to MMA Fighting. A move which is said to be irking the top brass at the UFC as Conor McGregor has a contract that effectively bars him from engaging in any prizefighting activity outside the promotion. This probably happened due to the fact that the UFC has recently stripped him of the featherweight championship and has reinstated his arch rival Jose Aldo as the champion.

Getting a role at Game of Thrones won’t present any logistical problems for Conor McGregor. The show does a bulk of its filming in Northern Ireland which is Conor Mcgregor’s home country. While leaving the UFC for an untested career in acting is a bit risky, it is entirely feasible for Conor McGregor to at least do a cameo for the popular TV show before the end of it’s run. He already has some inside connection to the show as one video shows Conor McGregor doing some sparring work with the actor who plays “The Mountain” in Game of Thrones.

If Game of Thrones does not pan out for Conor McGregor, he has a couple more attractive options on his plate. First is an obvious foray into the WWE where Conor McGregor and his natural gift of talking trash would be a good fit. A lot of sources are already saying that Conor McGregor is already entertaining offers from the WWE.

Triple H, who makes a lot of decisions for the company, has already spoken about his desire to have Conor McGregor in the fold. Ronda Rousey, who is another mega UFC star, has already appeared on a major pro wrestling event, which makes the possibility of Conor McGregor being in a WWE ring much more possible.

Second is a lucrative boxing match with retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. The hall of fame boxer has been squabbling with Conor McGregor on social media for some time now and a match between the two of them would produce extraordinary numbers. If the UFC allows Conor McGregor to pursue this boxing affair, then a match between UFC’s biggest star and boxing’s highest earning fighter is set to give Conor McGregor a six-figure payday.

Conor McGregor has always fancied himself as some sort of king. Will fans see him try to grab the already crowded iron throne in Game of Thrones? Let us see what UFC mega star Conor McGregor does next.
