Apink Second K-Pop Comeback Of 2016 — Plan A Entertainment Reveals Popular Girl Group Working On ‘Special Album’ While Releasing First Teaser [Image]

2016 may go down in K-pop history as the “Second Kpopcalypse,” but we can also say it is a year when K-pop acts really stepped up to deliver their best. Putting aside the situations that caused members to leave their respective groups or groups disbanding, many have done more than one comeback this year. EXO had two comebacks with their third studio album EX’ACT featuring “Monster” and its re-release Lotto featuring “Lotto.” BTS also had two comebacks with their first collaboration album The Most Beautiful Moment In Life: Young Forever featuring “Fire” and their second studio album Wings featuring “Blood, Sweat & Tears.”

The two K-pop boy bands are just two of many other K-pop acts who had multiple comebacks this year. Even newer K-pop groups and acts making their debut this year had at least one comeback including Black Pink, Pentagon, NCT (through the debut of three of their sub-groups), and Astro. Now the next K-pop comeback getting a lot of buzz is Apink. Plan A Entertainment made it known they will return with a “special album,” and they just released the first teaser for it too.

Chatter of Apink’s second K-pop comeback for 2016 was first made known on Wednesday, November 30. According to AllKpop, Plan A Entertainment — the entertainment label and agency affiliated with Cube Entertainment that Apink is signed to — made an announcement on said comeback, letting the general K-pop community and Pink Pandas (official fan club of Apink) know what to expect.

“Apink will be releasing their first special album on December 15. The album is like a present for the fans who’ve given them unchanging support and love since their debut. All of Apink have dedicated a lot of attention [to this album] despite their busy end of year schedules.”

Since then, there hasn’t been any other information pertaining to Apink’s upcoming special album until Monday, December 5 at midnight KST. A teaser image for said upcoming special album was posted up on Apink’s official Twitter. It shows the lower halves of all six members of Apink standing together in a semi-circle with their feet together. Four members are wearing white socks while two members are wearing black. This may or may not be part of the theme. Also, the post made it known the title of the upcoming special album is Dear.

The special album releases about two months after Apink made their first K-pop comeback of 2016 with Pink Revolution, their third full-length studio album. The six-member girl group consisting of Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Naeun, Namjoo, and Hayoung along with Plan A Entertainment helped build hype for it with two teaser images (one is attached below) and music video teasers. Eventually, Pink Revolution released on September 26 with the featured title track song “Only One.” The album peaked at No. 2 on the Korean chart and No. 39 on the Japanese chart. More than 49,644 units were sold in South Korea while about 2,631 units were sold in Japan. As for the featured title track song “Only One,” it peaked at No. 5 on the Korean chart and had over 401,590 purchased downloads.

Promotions for Dear just started to release. If Apink are to follow the example of other K-pop acts when it comes to pre-release promotions, fans should expect group and individual image teasers, a track list, and a teaser of the music video for the featured title track song. The album Dear and its featured title track song music video are set to release on December 15. Until then, K-pop fans and Pink Pandas can get their hands on the third studio album by Apink, Pink Revolution, by purchasing it at YesAsia.
