Duggar Family News: Josh Duggar Uses Son As Human Camera Shield, Joy-Anna Duggar Goes On Christmas Date

The Duggar family is getting into the holiday spirit by going caroling. However, don’t expect to see Josh Duggar celebrating the holidays with his family in any future episodes of Counting On.

TLC has proved that it still doesn’t want anything to do with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest child. Josh Duggar attended Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s wedding last month, but he was nowhere to be seen in their Counting On wedding special. According to the Daily Mail, this is because Josh used one of his family members to hide his face when the Counting On cameras turned their lenses on Jinger and Jeremy’s wedding guests.

In screenshots of the couple’s wedding special, Josh Duggar can be seen holding his two-year-old son Marcus up in front of him as members of the wedding party make their way to the front of the church.

Last year, TLC canceled the Duggar family’s popular reality series, 19 Kids and Counting, in response to Josh’s confession that he had sexually molested four of his younger siblings. TLC later decided to reboot the show as Counting On, and network sources promised that Josh would not appear on his family’s new reality series. However, the Duggar family made it difficult for the network to fulfill this promise by seating Josh in the second row of pews at Jinger and Jeremy’s wedding.

Futon Critic recently shared a press release about the upcoming season of Counting On, and Josh is not mentioned in it. According to TLC, Season 3 of the Duggar family’s reality series will focus on Jinger Duggar’s wedding preparations, Jessa Duggar’s pregnancy, and Joy-Anna Duggar’s courtship.

“A budding courtship, a new baby, and an expanded look at Jinger and Jeremy’s road to the altar – from all the wedding preparations and the beautiful ceremony to the festive reception and honeymoon celebration – are just part of next season’s major milestones. The 11-part run promises love, laughter and tears,” the description reads.

As the Stir reports, Joy-Anna Duggar, 19, announced that she was courting longtime family friend Austin Forsyth, 22, during the Counting On Season 2 finale. Austin was Joy-Anna’s date for Jinger’s wedding, and it looks like TLC was also careful not to show him in any of the wedding special footage. However, if the Duggar family is currently filming holiday-themed episodes of Counting On, he may appear in them.

On Wednesday, a friend of the Duggar family shared an Instagram video of Austin Forsyth, Joy-Anna Duggar, and a few other members of the Duggar family singing Christmas carols at the Lights of the Ozarks Christmas lights display in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth stand close together while they read the lyrics to “Angels We Have Heard on High” off of Joy-Anna’s smart phone, but they’re careful not to touch. The couple has reportedly set very strict courtship rules for themselves when it comes to physical contact, so don’t expect to see them front-hugging and walking with their arms around each other like Jinger and Jeremy did during their courtship.

Christmas caroling is one of the Duggar family’s favorite holiday traditions. They also enjoy exchanging Christmas gifts, sending Christmas cards to their friends and family members, and watching the Charlie Brown Christmas special on a small laptop screen.

However, there’s one popular tradition the Duggar family doesn’t take part in: decorating a Christmas tree. As People reports, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar prefer decking their halls with “Happy Birthday Jesus” banners instead. If any members of the Duggar family wanted to decorate a Christmas tree this year, they had to head over to the guest house where Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are staying. According to the Duggar Family Blog, the couple has one set up there.

Last year, Josh and a few of his family members filmed a Christmas video about how the Duggars celebrate the holidays. Michelle said that the family sings “Happy Birthday Jesus” together and sits down to read the story of the first Christmas.

Josh Duggar will likely continue to take part in many of his family’s holiday festivities, so the Counting On production crew may have a difficult time editing him out of any Christmas-themed episodes of the show.
