Stassi Schroeder And Jax Taylor Are Friends Again: ‘She’s A Great Girl,’ He Says
Stassi Schroeder and Jax Taylor and back on — but only as friends.
After being at odds for several seasons of Vanderpump Rules, the former couple has made amends and are now enjoying an unexpected friendship with one another.
“It’s actually great. I feel like [Stassi Schroeder] and I have been really cool. No one would have ever thought that, because the last five years have been pretty tough on us,” Jax Taylor explained to Bravo TV’s Daily Dish on December 1. “I think we’re at a place now that we kind of came full circle.”
Stassi Schroeder and Jax Taylor were in a relationship with one another when fans were first introduced to them on Vanderpump Rules Season 1 in January of 2013. One season later, their relationship imploded after it was revealed that Taylor had cheated — and that he had slept with Stassi Schroeder’s close friend and co-star Kristen Doute.
After learning her former boyfriend had been unfaithful, Stassi Schroeder called off their relationship and remained estranged from Taylor for months after quitting her job at SUR Restaurant, where they had formerly worked together.
After quitting her waitressing gig at SUR Restaurant, Stassi Schroeder moved to New York City, where she quickly began living with Patrick Meagher, a radio host. Then, ahead of the series’ third season, Stassi Schroeder moved back to Los Angeles with Meagher in tow, and they began living together in a new apartment. Although Stassi Schroeder filmed with her co-stars during Vanderpump Rules Season 3, she made a point to steer clear of Jax Taylor and kept her romance with Meagher off the show completely.
By Season 4, things between Stassi Schroeder and Jax Taylor seemed to take a positive turn as he moved on with new girlfriend Brittany Cartwright, and Schroeder expressed her approval of the relationship. Meanwhile, her own relationship was coming to an end, and over the summer, Stassi Schroeder confirmed she and Meagher had parted ways.
“I didn’t lose any feelings for him. None of that changed. It’s just, like, I can’t handle this,” she explained to listeners of her podcast series, via Radar Online. “Like, you don’t fit into my life. You don’t try to fit into my life enough, and we keep fighting, and I can’t handle breaking up all the time.”
“Normally, when we’ve broken up, I don’t get that upset because I feel like it’s going to be OK, you know what I mean?” she concluded. “I don’t feel that way. I’m trying to be an independent, strong, 28-year-old woman who doesn’t want to settle for this weird pattern. And it’s not about settling for him. He’s a wonderful man. Nobody would be settling by being with him. It’s settling for the way that we are together. I can’t settle for that.”
Also during his interview with Bravo TV’s The Daily Dish, Jax Taylor explained what it took for him and Stassi Schroeder to get to a better place.
“We can kind of realize who we are. We can make fun of each other now. We can kind of let it go; it’s been so many years. I think we just click. We laugh at each other’s jokes. She’s a great girl. She’s very smart. She’s very intelligent and she’s a good person.”
As for the possibility of Stassi Schroeder moving on from Meagher with a new man, Taylor said, “She’s a firecracker. It’s gonna take a certain kind of human being to date her.”
