‘Assassin’s Creed III’ Is Ubisoft’s Most Pre-Ordered Game In History

Assassin’s Creed III is less than a week from release — for PC, a month — but it already looks like the final chapter in Desmond’s story is a hit for Ubisoft.

In a press release sent out yesterday, Ubisoft announced that pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III have handily surpassed all of its predecessors. In fact, Ubisoft said that pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III have surpassed all of their games.

“Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop are nearly 100% higher than last year, putting the game on track to be one of the top titles of 2012,” said GameStop president Tony Bartel. “In addition, Ubisoft is offering high quality DLC available at launch to bring even more excitement to this title.”

Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft is just as excited as GameStop is about the news.

“Assassin’s Creed III is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this impressive pre-order mark is just a hint of the game’s potential,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of Ubisoft sales & marketing. “When players discover the new features, historical period, characters and gaming experience that the development team has worked so hard to create, we’re confident that they will agree that this is the biggest, best Assassin’s Creed game yet.”

Assassin’s Creed III may be just around the corner, but Ubisoft is quick to remind gamers that you can still put your pre-order in. Doing so will net you some exclusive goodies, including new missions, new weapons, and new skins.

Assassin’s Creed III launches October 31 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. PC gets the game on November 23, while the Wii U receives theirs day-and-date with the release of the console.
