Sherri Papini Screamed So Much For Help She Coughed Up Blood, Keith Papini Tells ’20/20′ [Video]

As seen in the below video from ABC’s 20/20, Keith Papini spoke of his wife, Sherri Papini, coughing up blood due to screaming so much for help after being cut loose from the vehicle that she was chained within on the day of her return — Thanksgiving Day. Keith explained that Sherri had the presence of mind to tuck in the metal chain that dangled from Sherri’s left wrist so that the motorists who kept whizzing by Papini on the California highway wouldn’t think Sherri had just escaped from prison since many cars would not stop for Sherri.

As a result of such thinking, Keith called his wife “wonderful” in the above video.

Eventually, Sherri would be rescued from the side of the highway. Papini has been described as a person who may have endured the behavior of a cult or extremist group that would use tactics such as branding and hair-cutting to break somebody down. However, Sherri doesn’t fit the mold of a typical sex traffic victim as a 34-year-old mother of two children.

Nevertheless, the press conference snippet shows that the public should be on the lookout for two armed Hispanic women, with the older of the two women having different features than the other woman. One had straight black hair, while the other had curlier hair. Pierced earrings and thin versus thick eyebrows are among the few details being sent out to the public regarding Papini’s kidnappers.

Investigators are trying to determine where exactly Papini may have been held and what, exactly, was the motive of Sherri’s kidnappers. Authorities want to figure out if Sherri was specifically targeted by her captors.

Sherri was forced to wear a hood most of the time, according to ABC News, which is the reason for the sparse amount of details about the captors. However, authorities are still working on composite sketches of the kidnappers of Papini.

Meanwhile, Sherri has been asked about details that didn’t require vision, including whether Papini heard a train nearby where she was held or if she felt the vibrations of a train. They’ve asked Sherri what the room felt like, according to the video released by Good Morning America.

More details from Keith’s interview about what Papini endured are slowly making their way to the public, along with controversies about Keith wanting to share information about all the torture Sherri endured in the wake of kidnapping hoax rumors.

Keith spoke of what it must’ve been like for Sherri as she screamed his name. He also stated that she wore a chain around her waist as her left hand was chained to something in the vehicle.

Papini reported that her captors spoke mainly in Spanish and kept their faces concealed in order to hide their identities from her.

The following excerpt from the 20/20 interview with Matt Gutman and Keith in Redding, California, explains a bit more of Sherri’s ordeal from the husband’s perspective.

“They opened the door. She doesn’t know because she had a bag over her head and cut something to free her restraint that was holding her into the vehicle and then kind of pushed her out of the vehicle and she has at this point has no idea where she’s at and then ran to the freeway. She screamed so much she was coughing up blood from the screaming trying to get somebody to stop and again just another sign of how my wife is, she’s so wonderful that she said, ‘Well, maybe people aren’t stopping because I have a chain, it looks like I broke out of prison.’ So she tried to tuck in her chain under her clothes.”
