Justin Bieber Says Instagram Is ‘Hell’: Did Sofia Richie Backlash Or Selena Gomez War Cause Exit?

For fans hoping that Justin Bieber would return to Instagram, the 22-year-old “Sorry” singer doesn’t appear sorry just yet about his decision to exit from that social media platform. Justin vanished from Instagram following a war of words with Selena Gomez and a backlash from some Beliebers over his then-girlfriend Sofia Richie. Now, Bieber has revealed his unique views on the social media app.

Billboard pointed out that Bieber is known for having a “love/hate relationship with Instagram,” especially after his exit in August. Chatting with an audience in London on November 29, Justin informed them that he is “90 percent sure” that Instagram is “for the devil,” comparing it to “hell.”

But just prior to making those comments, Bieber gave his fans hope that he would return to sharing those selfies on the social media app.

“Who thinks I should get my Instagram back?” Justin asked the crowd.

That’s when Bieber broke the bad news.

“Nah, I don’t want to get my Instagram back… I’m sure… I think hell is Instagram. “

Justin also told the crowd that he is “90 percent sure” about his views.

“We get sent to hell, we get like locked in the Instagram server,” added Bieber.

As for the future of Justin’s presence on the social media app after the final show on the European phase of his tour, the pop prince informed the audience that he was not certain yet about what could happen after he got home.

MTV News told readers that Justin “believes Instagram is for devils in hell.” The media outlet predicted that Bieber would not return to the social media app because he “is a follower of Christ and Instagram is the devil’s tool.”

In addition to commenting that “we get sent to hell and we get locked in the Instagram server,” Justin shared that he is “stuck in the DMs…trying to climb my way out and I can’t.”

Refinery 29 pointed out that Justin isn’t the only celebrity to struggle with the social media app. Daisy Ridley, famed for Star Wars, deleted her account. In February, Kylie Jenner also issued a threat to exit Instagram.

However, Bieber also qualified his remarks in his rant about the social media platform.

“I don’t know what I’m talking about,” Justin stated.

Bieber made his revelation that the social media platform is “for the devil” during a concert that took place three months after he deleted his page, reported Us Weekly.

That concert marked the last 2016 date of Justin’s Purpose world tour. He will be resuming his journey around the globe in February 2017 in Mexico, then continue onto Australia, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Italy.

“This is our last show … and I don’t know what I’m going to do when I go home,” Bieber informed his London fans, teasing them.

“I’m just gonna… and lay around my room, take Instagram pictures and not upload them. ‘Oh, they would love this one!'”

As for what led to Bieber’s bye-bye to the social media app, it began with a backlash from his fans about his then-gal pal Sofia Richie. Justin responded by pleading with them to stop acting “so mean” to Sofia.

But was it the backlash over Richie or the comments that followed from his former girlfriend Selena Gomez that caused his exit? Following Bieber’s plea to his Beliebers to stop the hostility toward Sofia, Selena posted her own views on one of Justin’s posts.

“If you can’t handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol.”

Gomez also defended her former boyfriend’s fans.

“Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you,” wrote Selena.

Justin reacted to her post, asserting that he is “one for anyone receiving hate.” But Gomez battled back in their war of words.

“Funny how the ones that cheated multiple times, are pointing the finger at the ones that were forgiving and supportive, no wonder fans are mad,” wrote Selena.

Soon after that exchange with Gomez, Bieber deleted his Instagram page.
