Today’s mystery Google photoshopped logo is crop circles

Google has continued on its merry path of odd and strange logos by today embracing a logo that revolves around crop circles.

The logo, which appeared on a range of Google country specific search sites on September 15 local time (at the time of writing, the logo does not appear on Google.com itself) links to a search for crop circles, and as show above, that’s exactly what it shows as well.

The results by following the link give away no other hints as to why Google is running a crop circle logo today. Indeed, the Wikipedia entry for crop circles includes the fact that Google is running a crop circle logo September 15.

If anyone has any idea why Google is embracing crop circles today, let us know in the comments.

Update: the official Google Twitter account has posted a Tweet pointing to 51.327629, -0.5616088. The address corresponds to a point in Surrey, England, where a flying saucer was spotted on the September 15, 1985. The relationship to crop circles though is still a mystery.
