WWE News: Paul Heyman Reveals Why Goldberg Beat Brock Lesnar So Quickly At ‘Survivor Series’ – Plans For ‘Royal Rumble’

The result of the Survivor Series main event is one that shocked the entire world as no one saw Goldberg defeating Brock Lesnar in just 86 seconds. It was quite an embarrassment for the “Beast Incarnate,” but it doesn’t mean the loss came without a valid reason. Last night on Monday Night Raw, Paul Heyman spoke about his client and revealed the true reason for Lesnar losing so quickly and what his plans are for the Royal Rumble.

When the squash happened a little over a week ago, there wasn’t a single person who could have seen it coming. They may have thought that Lesnar would lose to Goldberg, but they certainly couldn’t have thought that it would be such a dominating performance by the almost 50-year-old former world champion.

As recapped by the official website of WWE, Brock Lesnar pushed Goldberg into a corner for a couple of hits before being shoved down. Goldberg delivered one spear and then another spear and then his signature Jackhammer before making the successful pin.

It was that first spear that ended up setting the tone for that entire match at Survivor Series and the one that was the beginning of the end.

Last night on Monday Night Raw, Paul Heyman appeared in a sit-down interview to discuss the match and how things are for his client. As reported by WrestleZone, Heyman revealed that they both underestimated Goldberg, which was a huge mistake on their part.

From there, Heyman went on to say that Brock Lesnar is actually injured and that the injury happened when Goldberg delivered the first spear at Survivor Series. Heyman stated that the spear actually cracked some of Lesnar’s ribs and led to the quick defeat.

Of course, this is all part of the WWE’s storyline for the feud, and Lesnar isn’t truly injured. He did add that Lesnar couldn’t breathe after the injury occurred, and it led to Goldberg being able to dominate the rest of the match.

It was an “embarrassment,” and Lesnar suffered sheer “humiliation” in the match, but it was going to be avenged and quite soon. Heyman’s client may have lost his two career matches to Goldberg, but their time in the ring together was far from over.

Along with explaining that Brock Lesnar was “injured” at the hands of Goldberg, Paul Heyman also revealed his client’s future plans. Last week, Goldberg let the world know that he wasn’t quite done and that he was going to enter the Royal Rumble match to see if he has one more title run in him.

Now, as reported by Fox Sports, there has been a second man officially announced for the 2017 Royal Rumble, and it is none other than Brock Lesnar.

In order for there to be a showdown between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble, they will have to draw numbers close to one another. There is also the possibility that they could enter and just stay in the match long enough to encounter each other.

There’s also the fact that you can pretty much count on WWE making sure these two behemoths run into one another at some point.

There has been no indication that Brock Lesnar is actually injured and is dealing with some cracked ribs due to Goldberg’s spear at Survivor Series. It’s all part of the storyline, and it is now evident that WWE is going to continuing with their feud and it could end up culminating at the Royal Rumble in January. By the way that Paul Heyman was speaking last night on Monday Night Raw, though, it appears this may very well carry on until WrestleMania 33.
