Kanye West Recovery: Struggling To Cope Without Kim Kardashian

Rapper Kanye West was hospitalized last Monday for exhaustion and sleep deprivation after canceling 21 scheduled concerts on his “Saint Pablo Tour,” and he has yet to be discharged.

The hip-hop artist was admitted to Ronald Reagan UCLA medical center November 21 after an unspecified episode at his personal trainer’s home. During the episode, he was reportedly behaving erratically. A TMZ report claimed West was experiencing fits of psychosis, paranoia, fear, and depression.

According to an anonymous People magazine source, West has a history of erratic episodes that are frequently brought on by exhaustion, but the absence of his wife, Kim Kardashian-West, during his touring aggravated his stress and recovery.

“In the past, he snapped back quickly. This has been going on for years. In the past when Kanye seemed to struggle, no one took it too seriously. The attitude was more like it was just Kanye being Kanye.” The source said they had expected that “things would go back to normal. This time is much different … Without having Kim by his side during the tour as planned, Kanye wasn’t able to snap back. Kim being absent because of her own struggles seems to be why things are different with Kanye this time.”

Kardashian-West recently garnered international attention after a break-in and robbery left her tied up and gagged in her bathroom early October. The thieves reportedly left both Kardashian-West and her husband shaken, and Kardashian-West left Paris, where the attack took place, to join her husband in New York immediately after giving a police statement.

The thieves stole more than $10 million worth of jewelry, including a large diamond ring Kim had recently acquired. The pop star’s social media accounts have been implicated in appealing to the robbers, as Kardashian-West regularly shares her jewelry, and had posted on Snapchat earlier that night revealing she was alone in her Paris apartment.

West heard the news of the robbery during a concert and walked off stage mid-performance, garnering criticism from angry fans. “I’m sorry. I have a family emergency. I have to stop the show,” he said during a concert in Queens, New York before running off.

He reportedly had nightmares about his wife’s robbery in the days before his breakdown and hospitalization, an anonymous source told Us magazine.

“He’s been shaken up ever since the robbery in Paris. It did a number on him as much as Kim. The mere thought that anything could happen to her sent him in a tailspin. He wasn’t sleeping and he was having nightmares about it.”

“Kim is focused on Kanye right now and making sure her family is getting all the care and attention that’s needed. They’re her priority and main concern right now,” said another anonymous source close to the Kardashians.

However, another anonymous source has denied any claims that Kanye is struggling with his mental health, instead insisting his hospitalization was merely due to exhaustion.

“It’s nothing like that, he’s just exhausted. He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line,” the source said.

“He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work – which is extremely important to him – and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out.”

“I’m sure Kim and his family played a part in the decision,” the source said of the tour cancellations.

“He’s incredibly devoted to his family.”

Tickets for his tours will be fully refunded at the point of purchase.

Before the hospitalization, West had a few public incidences of appearing late to concerts and ending performances early, and at one concert went on a political rant about the elections.
