Kanye West ‘Breakdown’ Claims Clash, From ‘Very Paranoid’ To ‘Spiritual Attack’: Inside Hospital Stay

Since the news broke that Kanye West had been hospitalized, reports of what led up to his stay at a Los Angeles area medical center and what is occurring within that facility have clashed. Some media outlets are alleging that the rapper suffers from paranoia, while others list exhaustion and sleep deprivation, in addition to a feeling he was under a “spiritual attack.”

Entertainment Weekly told readers that West is “being heavily supervised during his time at UCLA Medical Center, where he was admitted for exhaustion and sleep deprivation a week ago,” citing an insider’s description of his issues and hospital side.

“In the hospital [West] has been very paranoid and is under constant watch for his safety.”

The source added that the rapper is still at the hospital “because clearly he’s not doing well.”

Kanye feels as if he is “under spiritual attack,” a source told People magazine, which also cited an insider’s summary of his health concerns.

“He is exhausted and currently dealing with sleep deprivation. He went to the hospital at will under the advise of his physician,” said the insider.

West, famed as both a musician and fashion designer is “in a very reflective place right now,” added the source.

“[Kanye] feels like he’s under spiritual attack, and has been for awhile.”

The insider also revealed that the rapper’s issues are “more subtle” and that ever since his mother Donda died in November 2007 at age 58, “this time of year always brings him a lot of pain.” Although West “keeps that pain internalized,” he has sometimes discussed “how hard this time of year is for him,” added the source.

“He works through the pain every November,” explained the insider.

People also reported that Kanye is both “physically exhausted from lack of sleep,” and “emotionally and spiritually tired — and is processing things internally,” with the source emphasizing that the father of North and Saint “isn’t one to run away from these things.”

Instead, West “leans in and listens, and comes away a stronger, better man,” added the insider.

“His spirit is vexed. But that’s where growth comes from.”

As for when Kanye will be able to leave the hospital, Fox News reported on November 29 that although he has been hospitalized for more than a week, “the situation with the rapper is so serious he might not be released soon.”

The sequence of events began on November 12, when he allegedly had a “meltdown at his personal trainer’s home” and was admitted to the hospital, according to Fox. Although initially reports claimed West would be released from the hospital Monday, he “has been struggling with paranoia and is not stable,” added the media outlet.

Fox News also cited a report that his physicians allegedly said the rapper “is in no shape to leave” the hospital, noting that his wife Kim Kardashian reportedly attempted to contend that Kanye “could recover at home.”

An insider told People magazine that West’s wife Kim “says he has yet to be diagnosed, but she used words like paranoia and explained that Kanye thinks everyone is out to get him.”

Noting that Kardashian is “the only person Kanye trusts,” the source also discussed what she had allegedly said about West’s medication and commented on the status of his health after his lengthy stay in the hospital.

“Kanye is on many different medications…his doctors are figuring out proper doses, [and] not much has changed since he was admitted…His doctors seem concerned.”

Page Six told readers that West’s friends are concerned that he is “suffering from a nervous breakdown,” citing a source who claimed that the rapper is “spiraling further and further out of control.”

The insider also described Kanye as “becoming more and more unpredictable,” noting that his “chaotic life” sometimes means staying up and working “for 48 hours at a time.” And while West is “so talented,” added the source, “he’s his own worst enemy.”

But another insider told the media outlet that the stress of multi-tasking his fashion line with his tour had left West “just exhausted” from the workload.

“He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line,” added that source. “He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work — which is extremely important to him — and the rigors of the tour every night.?.?. really wore him out.”
