WWE Wants To Know If You’re Interested In Seeing Brock Lesnar Vs. Goldberg 3

The finish of the second Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg match at last weekend’s Survivor Series show was something that nobody saw coming. Of course, the finish of the match — which saw Goldberg squash Lesnar in less than two minutes — was immediately questioned by everyone, because, leading up to the match, Goldberg had said that his match with Lesnar would be the last match of his career. But, less than 24 hours later, WWE announced that he would be a part of January’s Royal Rumble show, and the finish of the Survivor Series main event began to make a little more sense.

WWE then announced Brock Lesnar for the Royal Rumble show, and now it’s quite clear that they’re building towards a third match between the two, presumably at WrestleMania 33. But, before the match happens, WWE is asking you if you’re interested in seeing a third match between “The Beast” and the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

On Sunday morning, WWE put up a poll asking fans if they want to see Lesnar vs. Goldberg 3, and, as of this writing, the vote is split right down the middle, as 50 percent of fans have said yes, while the other 50 percent have said no. You can cast your vote by clicking here.

Could Goldberg’s current WWE run come to an end after WrestleMania 33? Maybe. But, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Goldberg will keep wrestling as long as WWE is willing to pay him what they paid him to do the match with Lesnar at Survivor Series.

“The situation is, Bill [Goldberg] got a deal from WWE to do one show, and it was a real big money deal. The impression I’ve got is that he will wrestle as many times for that figure, as many times as Vince [McMahon] wants him to wrestle. So, the ball’s in Vince’s court. It’s not like [Goldberg] is going in there and saying ‘I’m ready to retire.’ If they meet his number, he’ll be there. So, it’s up to Vince.”

The point of doing a third match between Goldberg and Lesnar is presumably to give “The Beast” a win over the ex-WCW megastar. But, they could end up shocking us again by having Goldberg squash Lesnar, making his record against “The Beast” 3-0.

With the poll results being the way they are, WWE could strongly consider doing something else with Goldberg at next spring’s big event. In a recent interview on ESPN, Goldberg called out Seth Rollins, but a match between the two at WrestleMania 33 is highly unlikely because the current plan is for Triple H to return and take on Rollins next April.

Originally, WWE was building towards Brock Lesnar vs. Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33, but it appears that those plans have changed and that they’ll probably end up doing something else with Shane in Orlando next spring. Of course, they could revert to their original plan, but, right now, it does look like they’re building towards Lesnar vs. Goldberg 3.

It’s unknown if Goldberg or Lesnar will appear on WWE television leading up the Royal Rumble show, or if they’ll only appear in the Rumble match before the build to WrestleMania 33 begins.

Goldberg hasn’t appeared at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view since January of 2004, where he was eliminated from the Rumble match by Kurt Angle, with an assist from Brock Lesnar. That, of course, led to the first Lesnar vs. Goldberg match at WrestleMania 20, which ended up being a complete debacle.

Brock Lesnar competed in his first Royal Rumble match in over a decade at this past January’s Rumble show, where he was eliminated by the entire Wyatt Family. The elimination was supposed to lead to Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 32, but plans were changed after Wyatt was injured, and Lesnar ended up going one on one with Dean Ambrose at the event, in what was a completely forgettable and underwhelming match.
