Scarlett Johansson Celebrates Birthday, Says Women Should ‘Take Risks,’ Opens Paris Popcorn Shop As ‘Symbol Of Friendship’

Scarlett Johansson encourages women to take risks in order to succeed, according to People magazine. The Lost in Translation actress, who plays Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel superhero movies, has accomplished a lot at such a young age. And now the actress, who turned 32-years-old on Tuesday, has shared some of the secrets to her success.

Addressing young girls at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon, Scarlett Johansson shared how she manages to cope with such a busy lifestyle.

The actress told the audience gathered at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles that coming into her thirties, delivering a baby, as well as exploring the creative side of herself thanks to acting, has been very “transformative” for her in “a lot of ways.”

But Scarlett Johansson admits that the most important grounds for her transformation was learning to be more accepting of herself and being less harsh and critical on herself.

Scarlett Johansson, who has been featured in Variety‘s latest Power of Women issue for her charitable efforts with Planned Parenthood, also admitted that society puts pressure on women to behave in a “specific way.”

When asked what piece of advice she has to offer to modern girls, Scarlett Johansson said girls should “take risks” and not be afraid of failures, because success that follows great risk is “rewarding.”

“I’ve really built a career on taking risks and sometimes it doesn’t pan out but… the upside has been hugely rewarding.”

Scarlett Johansson, who produced 2011’s The Whale documentary, also had a few things to say about working in the movie industry as a producer. The actress admitted that it was a “natural progression,” and added that working as an actress for over 20 years allowed her to look at films differently.

Scarlett Johansson insists that with two decades of acting experience in the rear window, she feels like “one of the more experienced people” in any film project that she is working on.

“I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but it just comes with working for such a long time.”

But being a talented actress and knowing how things work behind the camera wasn’t enough for Scarlett Johansson, so she and her husband recently opened their first popcorn shop in Paris, according to Wonder Wall.

On the opening day, October 22, Scarlett Johansson and husband Romain Dauriac manned the counter all by themselves. The actress’s world-famous name made a great advertisement for Yummy Pop, which was opened in the Parisian district of Marais.

In fact, the line of customers waiting outside of the newly opened popcorn shop amounted to approximately two hundred people, which is remarkable for a Parisian shop that has no previous food-related history whatsoever.

Scarlett Johansson has said in a statement that for several years it had been her dream to bring her “favorite American snack” to her “favorite European city.

“My hope is for Yummy Pop to become a Parisian snacking staple and a symbol of friendship between my two most beloved cities, Paris and New York.”

Yummy Pop offers different popcorn flavors which will change throughout the year. Scarlett Johansson also revealed that her favorite popcorn flavor is truffle, parmesan, and sage. And they are offering this type of popcorn at Yummy Pop, so all fans can now taste the actress’s favorite snack.

Scarlett Johansson’s husband’s sister will manage Yummy Pop in Paris. The shop cooks the popcorn fresh before serving it to customers. The Chef of New York’s Ducks Eatery, Will Horowitz, helped the actress and her husband come up with the menu.
With Yummy Pop’s current success, it won’t be surprising if Scarlett Johansson opens new popcorn shops in other cities in the coming months and years.
