Lady Gaga Supports Kanye West And Selena Gomez After Sharing Her Own Struggles With Fame

Lady Gaga is all about the love, and she’s spreading it all over Hollywood. The “Million Reasons” singer recently spoke out about how difficult being famous can be, and she showed her support for Selena Gomez and Kanye West, two celebrities struggling with life in the spotlight.

Lady Gaga spent the day before Thanksgiving defending Kanye West on Twitter. Some of Kanye’s critics responded to his recent hospitalization by cracking jokes about the singer, but Lady Gaga made it clear that she doesn’t see anything humorous about his plight. As CBS News reports, she used her Twitter page to chastise the internet trolls making light of Kanye’s mental condition.

Lady Gaga also applauded Kanye West for canceling the remaining concerts of his Saint Pablo Tour and seeking help.

Kanye West spent Thanksgiving in the hospital, and sources close to the singer told TMZ that he’s “paranoid and profoundly depressed.” However, there’s hope that he’ll get to go home on Monday.

Selena Gomez has similarly been battling mental illness, and she recently took the brave step of speaking out her battle with depression and her stint in rehab. As Entertainment Tonight Canada reports, Selena explained why she decided to seek help during her appearance at the American Music Awards.

“I had to stop, because I had everything and I was absolutely broken inside,” Gomez said.

Lady Gaga ran into Selena backstage at the AMAs, and she gave her fellow pop star a big hug. Gaga shared an Instagram photo of their special moment with her followers, and she praised Gomez for having “a BIG heart.”

During an interview on Australia’s Kyle and Jackie O radio show, Lady Gaga lavished Selena Gomez with even more love and admiration.

“I found it very brave of her to stand up and speak about [depression]. I know her and I had a kindred excitement for her at that moment,” Gaga said.

“You don’t always have to keep up a good face and a good front in order to succeed. What’s most important is that on the inside you’re OK because it’s your heart that matters.”

Lady Gaga has firsthand experience with just how tough life in the public eye can be, so it’s not surprising that she feels so much sympathy for other celebrities who are struggling with life in the spotlight. Singers like Gaga, Kanye West, and Selena Gomez might have millions of fans who envy their charmed lives and look at them like they’re perfect, but there’s a downside to fame. As Cosmopolitan reports, Gaga recently opened up about what it’s like having a total lack of privacy as soon as she steps out of her front door.

“I’m not free anymore,” Gaga said during a CBS Sunday Morning interview airing on November 27. “As soon as I go out into the world, I belong, in a way, to everyone else. It’s legal to follow me. It’s legal to stalk me at the beach. And I can’t call the police or ask them to leave.”

Gaga also talked about her profound loneliness, and she broke down while trying to describe her plight. The tearful singer said that she’s a people person, but fame has made it difficult for her to have meaningful conversations with strangers.

“I miss people. I miss, you know, going anywhere and meeting a random person and saying, ‘Hi, and having a conversation about life. I love people.”

Lady Gaga might have a hard time finding random people to talk to, but celebrities like Selena Gomez and Kanye West might benefit from a friendly chat with the loving, caring soul that is Mama Monster.
