Alicia Keys Buys Eddie Murphy’s New Jersey Mansion

Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beats have purchased Eddie Murphy’s New Jersey Mansion for an estimated $15 million.

According to the NY Post, the Englewood mansion features 32 rooms, seven bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a movie theater, an indoor pool, a glass staircase, a spa, marble fire places, a recording studio and a bowling alley. The estate also has racquetball and tennis courts.

The NY Daily News reports that Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz got a pretty good deal on the mansion. In 2004, the Beverly Hills Cop star had the mansion listed for $30 million. Murphy bought the estate, known as Bubble Hill, for $3.5 million in 1985.

A local real estate source said:

“The closing has been delayed for months but they’re almost there … When she closes, she’ll buy the two-acre lot behind the house, too.”‘

Keys and Beatz purchased Lenny Kravitz SoHo home in 2010 for $12.75 million. The celebrity couple put that house on the market earlier this year in order to move forward with the purchase of Eddie Murphy’s mansion. Keys and Beatz have their SoHo triplex listed at $17.95 million.

Coldwell Banker’s Michel Kolsky said that the Englewood area is a hotbed for celebrities who want to be close to New York. Diddy, C.C. Sabathia, and Patrick Ewing all have homes in the area.

Kolsky said:

“This is the closest mileage to New York City for anyone on Wall St. or in the music industry … It may not be as pretty as Greenwich, but only here can you have a house like this, come home to tuck your kids in bed and be back in the city 20 minutes later.”
