‘Tom Clancy’s The Division’ Survival DLC: PS4 1.5 Update Release Date In Time By Next Tuesday? Review Of Named Gear Piece Location Tips

Tom Clancy’s The Division Survival DLC and 1.5 update has already released for PC and Xbox One. PS4 owners are still yearning for the new patch 1.5 release, and according to VG 24/7, it appears that console owners may be able to look forward to the patch next week. There is no confirmation just yet.

It was originally thought the PlayStation 4 version would get the update a couple of days after Tuesday with a 30-day release for the Survival expansion on Dec. 20.

Where Massive Stands

The Division developers had a short “State of the Game” announcement which was rather vague on The Division 1.5 release date when they said it would be a couple of days after the PC and Xbox One release. The reason for this is that Massive has done their part and has been left over to certain standard operating procedures at Microsoft and Sony. It seems that Sony may take a little longer to get things pushed through as there’s a certification process that needs to be completed. So they are basically waiting for the go-ahead from Sony.

An explanation is given by Arekkz the online streaming YouTuber.

The release date they are trying for is next Tuesday, Nov. 29. If Sony reaches out to Massive come Monday, then the 1.5 update can be prepared for live distribution on Tuesday. To reiterate, there’s no confirmed date as this depends on when they hear back from Sony.

In the meantime, you can familiarize yourself with the 1.5 update patch notes on Reddit and even get familiar with The Division Survival DLC content.

Location Review Of Named Gear Pieces In Survival DLC

The Division 1.5 update, coupled along with the expansion, has some pretty interesting things to look forward to. These are the named gear pieces, and they are not to be confused with the green gear sets your most familiar with in Massive’s predecessors. They come with a unique name and talent. Certain ones may not be so impressive, but others may prove useful.

  • [Mask] Ferro’s oxygen mask: Players can move and shoot while under burn status effect.
  • [Knee Pads] Shortbow championship pads: Grenades have shortened fuse timer.
  • [Holster] Colonel Bliss’ holster: Powerful improvements for sidearms.
  • [Gloves] Skulls MC gloves: Increased damage when no gear set bonuses are active.
  • [Chestpiece] Barrett’s bulletproof: Powerful bonuses when skills are on cooldown.
  • [Backpack] NinjaBike messenger bag: Less DZ loot and DZ XP lost when dying in the Dark Zone.

These Division gear pieces can only be acquired in World Tier Five. Of course, if you have a character already leveled up to a gear score of 229, this means you’d already have access to the final tier. From there you can start building yourself up to 256. These named pieces can also be obtained via The Division Survival and proficiency caches, but there will be a rather low drop rate.

Starting with Ferro’s oxygen mask, this can be acquired running a mission taking on Joe Ferro and his men at the napalm production site. Barret’s bulletproof vest can be found at the Lexington Event Center. Skulls MC gloves can be located via the open world roaming bosses. This piece can be dropped by any boss that is out and about.

Then there’s the NinjaBike messenger bag which can be found on named bosses in The Division’s Dark Zone area. These guys are indicated by the yellow life bar with the name on top. Colonel Bliss, the helicopter boss, drops his named holster after he’s defeated at the General Assembly, and finally, the Shortbow Championship pads which can be found on the boss named Hutch located a the Madison Field Hospital.

Survival will be imperative in the expansion in obtaining these gear items. How would you prefer to mix and match your gear sets with your named pieces? Would you wear them all or equip them in a strategic fashion?

Anyhow, Tom Clancy’s The Division 1.5 update has an unconfirmed line in the sand for PlayStation 4 owners for next Tuesday. Hopefully, the process made by Sony can be on target. Remember the Survival DLC was reported for Dec. 20.
