Lindsay Lohan Plays Grinch To Kettering Over EU Referendum, Just After Throwing Shade At Ariana Grande

Lindsay Lohan has come a long way since her destructive younger days, and she’s also worked hard at establishing herself in a new positive light, but that may have been all for nothing. Recent comments made by Lohan have cast her in a darker light and even her recent efforts to aid Syrian refugees may not be enough to offset the bitterness with which Lindsay is now speaking. Throwing shade at Ariana Grande is one thing, but, now, Lohan has gone a step further by going back on her promise to light the Christmas lights for Kettering. Citing the EU referendum, Lindsay Lohan seems to be distancing herself from any activities in Britain.

The Honeymoon Is Over: Lindsay Lohan Is Now At Odds With The U.K.

In a story shared by BBC, Lohan dropped out of an agreement to turn on the Christmas lights for the community of Kettering, following the vote which determined Britain’s exit from the European Union. Lindsay pleaded with the people of Britain to remain united with the rest of the E.U. in a series of social media posts, and when the country voted against her wishes, Lohan withdrew her promise to appear for the Kettering holiday event.

“Sorry, but #KETTERING where are you?” tweeted Lohan, indicating she wouldn’t participate in any events within Britain.

Subsequently, Conservative MP Phillip Hollobone responded to Lindsay’s tweets, suggesting that a personal appearance would greatly diminish her negative political image.

“Direct message me about your offer. Would be happy to light the Christmas tree in #Kettering,” Lohan responded back.

It seemed that Lindsay was willing to go through with the commitment after all, but a spokesperson for the Kettering Borough Council has said that several attempts to confirm Lohan’s participation in the Christmas event have gone unanswered. Without a response either way, the Kettering Borough Council must assume Lindsay will be a no show.

Lindsay Lohan recorded a video message at one point in which she backs out of the event.

“I really wanted to make it but with my busy schedule I wasn’t able to and I appreciate the offer.”

Instead, Kettering officials have arranged to have EastEnders actress Cheryl Fergison participate in the event, along with area children.

Mean Girls Star Lindsay Lohan Shamed Ariana Grande For Wearing “Too Much Makeup”

Kettering wasn’t the only target of Lindsay’s bitter judgments. As People reports, Lohan took it upon herself to try to shame Ariana Grande in a recent Instagram posting. The image, uploaded by Grande, was taken during the rehearsal for Hairspray Live and Ariana can be seen sporting pink lipstick and pink eye shadow.

Lindsay commented on the image with a simple three-word criticism.

“Too much makeup.”

Lohan left that same comment on another selfie posted by Grande, making sure the Grammy-Award-winning singer saw that the spiteful comments were coming from her.

While Lindsay may have meant to hurt Grande, the comments had little effect, as was revealed when Ariana responded to Lindsay in another public posting.

“Sigh….. tweets, comments, statement like this are not okay. About anyone!!! We live in a day and age where people make it IMPOSSIBLE for women, men, anyone to embrace themselves exactly how they are,” wrote Ms. Grande. “Diversity is sexy! Loving yourself is sexy!”

Ariana directly attacked her haters in the next part of her statement, and while she may not have directed the posting solely at Lindsay Lohan, the timing seems to indicate the artist is directing her remarks to Lohan, at least in part.

“You know what is NOT sexy? Misogyny, objectifying, labeling, comparing and body shaming!!! Talking about people’s body’s as if they’re on display ASKING for your approval / opinion. THEY ARE NOT!!!! CELEBRATE YOURSELF. CELEBRATE OTHERS. The things that make us different from one another make us BEAUTIFUL. BODY BOUNDARIES. LOVE LOVE LOVE ONLY.”
