Tony Romo Trade Rumors: Denver Broncos Trevor Siemian On Potential Deal, Other Possible NFL Teams In Mix

The Tony Romo trade rumors have been heating up ever since Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has shown his ability to take on the leadership role. Prescott has helped guide the team to an impressive 10-1 record to lead all teams in the NFL so far this season. There has been some belief that Prescott would simply fill in until Romo was healthy enough to return to the field, but it’s looking more and more like Romo’s days could be numbered in Dallas. With that in mind, the starting quarterback for one of the potential teams that could end up getting Romo was recently asked about his thoughts on it all.

On Wednesday, The Denver Post provided recent comments from QB Trevor Siemian. He’s been the starter for Denver in this championship defense season as the successor to the retired Peyton Manning. Siemian was asked about a variety of topics, but most importantly, his thoughts about the reports that Tony Romo would like to join the Denver Broncos if the Cowboys were to release or trade him.

Siemian was rather political in his answer, realizing that the matter at hand for him is to continue to steer his team towards the AFC playoffs.

“Not too worried about it, truthfully. This is a really important game for us. We have plenty of focus toward this coming Sunday. You can’t worry about that stuff too much.”

The Denver quarterback has been resting up a sore left shoulder in anticipation of the Broncos upcoming matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. Many analysts consider the Chiefs one of the tougher squads in the AFC right now. Both teams own 7-3 records heading into the game and are also right behind the Oakland Raiders for the AFC West division lead. If the playoffs began today, Denver would have the sixth seed while Kansas City would be fifth. That could all change based on Sunday’s game result.

Siemian is no Peyton Manning but has done an admirable job in Denver this season. He’s currently got 2,028 yards passing and 12 touchdowns on 175-of-291 completed passes. He’s only been in the league a few years, which gives him more time to grow, and one has to wonder if Denver would want to bring in Romo to replace him or see if his talent continues to develop.

While Denver is one potential landing spot in the Tony Romo trade rumors, don’t rule out a few other teams that have been speculated. The Heavy website gave the five best teams that the Cowboys QB could end up with. Besides the Broncos, they are indicating that maybe Romo will become a member of their opponents on Sunday, the Chiefs. However, Kansas City has never made any mention of wanting to go with an option besides Alex Smith.

Another possible team that Romo could go to is the Chicago Bears. It’s been no secret that a good number of fans have felt it was time to go with an option besides Jay Cutler, which would make Romo one of the best available replacements. As mentioned, it would not be a surprise if the Bears want Romo but Tony wants no part of playing for this Chicago team.

Another team in a similar situation to the Bears in terms of having a “not so ideal” situation for Romo to come into is the New York Jets. They’re not really contenders right now and can certainly use an established quarterback to try to right their ship. Once again, it would come down to how interested Romo is with being part of that ship. The Jets sit at 3-7 as of this report and are nowhere near a postseason berth unless they go on a serious win streak and have some luck go their way.

The final team being mentioned for Romo is the Miami Dolphins. That particular choice is one of those “wait and see” type teams, as they are among squads hunting for a playoff spot. Ryan Tannehill could earn $18 million if Miami decides to keep him on the 2017 roster. So it will be interesting to see if they continue to invest in Tannehill going forward or try to go for a big move and bring in Tony Romo to increase their chances against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the AFC.

So where will Romo end up playing next season? One thing is for sure, as of right now, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys are winning games and have themselves looking like serious contenders, as Tony Romo just watches from the sidelines.
