Mariah Carey On James Packer Split: ‘Now It’s A Whole Friggen Thing’
Mariah Carey has been nursing some pretty serious heartbreak, since splitting from ex-fiance, James Packer, but now that some time has passed, Ms. Carey seems open to discussing the relationship. She’s still skittish about being too open, but the subject of her relationship can’t be avoided entirely considering Mariah’s upcoming reality project, Mariah’s World, seeks to put the singer’s personal life under a microscope. Even as Mariah’s World looks to the past and to the future on the timeline of Carey’s life, she takes the time to wish another ex, Nick Cannon, well on the news that he would soon be a father.
A New Docuseries Forces Mariah Carey To Look Back On Her Painful James Packer Split
The holidays can be a particularly difficult time for those facing heartbreak and, as Entertainment Weekly reveals, Mariah Carey is no stranger to that kind of struggle. The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer is just beginning to heal from her emotional split from Australian businessman, James Packer, but, ever the strong spirit, Ms. Carey is confronting that recent period of her life in a new documentary series, Mariah’s World.
Mariah spoke about the way in which her break-up with Packer started out as a personal and deeply emotional event in October, but it has since exploded into a public event with fans and critics weighing in on the split.
“Now it’s a whole friggen thing,” said Carey, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
While Carey admits that the break-up has taken a toll on her, she says her split from Packer is in the past, and she’s already able to put things into perspective.
“I think I’m doing well… Everything happens for a reason. Things are the way they are.”
Ellen DeGeneres pointed out that although Packer had refused to participate in Mariah’s World, he can be seen in the docuseries. Ms. Carey coyly sidestepped the entire issue of James’ appearance in her autobiographical series, and she responded to Ellen without confirming anything.
Allegedly… that’s what I’m saying,” Carey replied. “It’s kind of difficult to talk about at this moment, so I’m just going to compliment you on these decorations once again, because they are fabulous and I’m here.”
Mariah’s World Creator Sends Her Best Wishes To Another Ex
While Carey is still nursing her wounds from that break-up with James Packer, International Business Times shares that the singer is feeling much more amicable toward another ex, Nick Cannon. In fact, upon learning that Cannon is expecting a baby with his current love interest, Brittany Bell, Mariah offered her best wishes to the couple. While confessing that she only recently learned about the pregnancy, Carey said she has always been supportive of Cannon and hopes for the best for him and his family.
“I’ll always be supportive of him and this is all news to me, because I didn’t know about this till maybe last week,” Mariah Carey said. “If he’s happy, that’s great.”
The news that Nick was expecting a baby with Ms. Bell came when the America’s Got Talent host participated in a recent radio interview. Carey’s ex-husband gushed over the news that Brittany is pregnant with his child during the interview, saying that he felt it was “the Lord’s work” to produce children. There could be no denying the excitement and giddiness in Cannon’s voice as he recommended having children to all of his fans.
“… everybody get a baby! I’m passing them out,” exclaimed Nick Cannon.
Mariah’s World, which will follow Mariah Carey and her children, Monroe Cannon and Moroccan Cannon, as the singer launches her Sweet Sweet Fantasy world tour, is set to premiere on December 4.
