Miley Cyrus Scores Quirky New Birthday Bling From Liam Hemsworth After Complaining About Her Engagement Ring
Miley Cyrus has made it perfectly clear that she’s not a fan of the massive diamond engagement ring that Liam Hemsworth proposed with in 2012. However, it looks like Miley’s fiancé isn’t too upset with her for dissing his taste in jewelry. In fact, Liam proved that he loves Miley more than ever by getting her a new rainbow-colored ring for her birthday.
Miley Cyrus turned 24-years-old on Wednesday, and Liam Hemsworth helped make her birthday a memorable one by picking out the perfect gift: a giant gold ring covered with rainbow-colored gems of different colors and different sizes. As E! News reports, Liam made sure to show off the gift’s creative packaging on Instagram before Miley tore into the box adorned with a felt unicorn, shiny stars, heart stickers, and plastic gems.
“Happiest birthday to my favorite little angel!” Liam captioned the picture.
After opening the box, Miley Cyrus shared two photos of the sparkly gift inside. The singer didn’t reveal whether her new bling was meant to be a replacement for the engagement ring that Liam Hemsworth gave her four years ago, but she isn’t wearing the new jewelry on her ring finger in the Instagram pictures that she shared with her fans.
Miley definitely seemed to love Liam’s gift, and she also gushed about its packaging on Instagram.
“Look at datttt Rainboooowwwwwwww rock! You always know how to make my ‘grubby little kid fingers’ *SHINE*!!! (P.S. please take notice of that beautiful packaging!!!! )” Miley wrote.
Miley Cyrus has proved that she’s brutally honest when it comes to her taste in jewelry, so her excited response to Liam Hemsworth’s birthday gift was likely genuine.
During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cyrus shared her true feelings about the engagement ring that Liam picked out for her.
“This is really weird because this is like real jewelry and most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy and they don’t look that good together because they kind of mix up,” Cyrus said, according to Us Weekly. “So sometimes I replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune [character].”
According to People, the engagement ring Liam Hemsworth purchased in 2012 is a 3.5-carat Neil Lane sparkler with an antique stone and an 18-carat gold band decorated with intricately-carved flowers. Miley and Liam called off their engagement in 2013, but they got back together this January. After they reconciled, Miley Cyrus started wearing her engagement ring again.
During her interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Miley Cyrus said that Liam Hemsworth eventually questioned her about why she doesn’t wear her engagement ring all the time, and it seems as though this made Miley feel a tad bit guilty about replacing the fancy diamond bling with cheap toy jewelry. According to the pop star, she decided to show Liam how much she loves him by starting to wear it more often.
“He’s kind of like, ‘What’s going on?'” Cyrus told Ellen DeGeneres. “[And] I am like, ‘This isn’t really my aesthetic, but I’ll wear it because you love me.'”
Judging from Miley Cyrus’ reaction to Liam Hemsworth’s birthday gift, the rainbow ring is definitely more her aesthetic.
Liam Hemsworth didn’t just prove that he’s a good listener by getting Miley Cyrus a colorful new piece of jewelry for her birthday, he also showed off his sweet side by waking Miley up with a bouquet and balloons in bed.
Miley Cyrus was also surprised with a giant birthday cake in the shape of her one of her rescue dogs, Emu. According to Billboard, Emu is a Shetland sheepdog that Miley adopted in 2014. The fluffy dog helped her heal after the tragic death of her beloved mini husky, Floyd.
