NBA Score: Golden State Warriors Put Up 149 Points On Los Angeles Lakers

When the NBA season started, the Los Angeles Lakers shocked everyone by beating the Golden State Warriors. The latter was looking for revenge when the two teams played their second game against one another. The Warriors definitely got that. On Wednesday, Golden State defeated the Lakers by a score of 149-106, as reported by ESPN.

Luke Walton became the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers after a highly successful stint as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors. When the Lakers defeated the Warriors earlier in the season, some believed that it was because Walton knew how to match up against his former players. Well, those former players decided to send a message by putting up a ridiculous amount of points.

Approximately 25 years ago, the Phoenix Suns had 47 assists in a game. No other team in the NBA has achieved that since then. The Golden State Warriors matched that number last night. It was a brilliant display of ball movement that has come to define the unselfishness that head coach Steve Kerr has instilled into a franchise that has four players that more than likely will be in the All-Star game this upcoming February.

In addition to being able to move the ball at ease against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Golden State Warriors were able to protect the ball as well. They only had 10 turnovers, which is a very impressive mark for an NBA team. Not only does that mean that the Warriors were smart about where they were passing the game, it also meant that the Lakers simply were not playing defense smart enough.

While the Golden State Warriors players were relentless against Luke Walton and his young roster, the fan base was a bit warmer. The audience at the Oracle Arena showered Walton with cheers. That was expected because he left the team on very good terms. There were those that were hoping that he would stick around in case Steve Kerr decided to retire earlier than expected.

Though it might not have helped that much, it should be noted that the Los Angeles Lakers were playing without two of their starters. D’Angelo Russell was not on the court. The scoring guard is expected to miss another week or so of action. He is far from being a great defender on the NBA level, but he would have helped the Lakers put up a couple of more points to make the loss a bit less lopsided.

Julius Randle was also not available for the Los Angeles Lakers. He usually starts at power forward for the team. His versatility would have made it a bit harder for Draymond Green on defense, probably not to the point where it would have changed the outcome of the game, though.

With Julius Randle out of the lineup, Brandon Ingram received the first start of his NBA career. The rookie has shown some promise but not enough to where he is ready to take the league by storm. Against the Golden State Warriors, Ingram put up 16 points but was not overly impressive. His performance is not going to cause Luke Walton to contemplate a change to the roster anytime soon.

In what is becoming a regular occurrence for the Los Angeles Lakers, Louis Williams and Jordan Clarkson once again combined to contribute offensively off of the bench. The two aggressive guards combined for 32 points. On any other night, that might help the Lakers pick up the win, but the Golden State Warriors were simply playing on an entirely higher level last night.

Another rematch between the two teams will take place on Friday night.
