Groom killed in car crash on morning of his wedding

On Saturday, a Raleigh, NC groom prepared for his 11am nuptuals later in the day by joining his friends for an ill-fated pre-wedding breakfast.
Christopher Raynor, 28, was in the backseat of his best man’s car at 7:30 on the morning of the wedding when another car ran a red light and struck the vehicle. Raynor was thrown from the vehicle into oncoming traffic, and a third car ran over the young groom. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The man operating the other car was charged with a red light violation and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
Father Salvatore Busichio was tasked with informing guests about the groom’s death as they arrived at Raleigh’s Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Church. At a wedding turned memorial service, devastated bride-to-be Karen Taylor addressed attendees:
“The (bride) got into the pulpit after the service was over. She was explaining her feelings, and she was very gallant, very brave. She thanked everyone for coming and said she realized by being there (that) it had strengthened her and her love for him.”
Taylor spoke of her last contact with her fiance, via text message the morning of the wedding:
“He started off my day with a text message saying, ‘Yay,’ and he went on with the text message, saying, ‘I’m so ready,’” she said through tears to WTVD Saturday night. “And I think he is ready. I think he is ready for heaven.”
