Oprah Winfrey Developing Hour Long Drama For HBO


Oprah Winfrey is rumored to be working on a drama for the folks over at HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Despite leaving the world of daytime television behind her, Winfrey continues to say extremely busy. The aforementioned project for the cable network is just one of the many projects Oprah has in the works at the moment.

The series, which finds Oprah Winfrey and Harpo Films’ Kate Forte serving as executive producers, follows a wealthy academic who becomes the first black president of a liberal arts college. After the man and his family find themselves thrust into the spotlight, they must come to terms with a number of dark secrets and personal struggles. Playwright Thomas Bradshaw will write and co-produce the hour-long drama.

In addition to the aforementioned HBO project, Oprah Winfrey will reportedly co-host Good Morning America this Thursday (October 25). According to ABC 15, the former queen of daytime TV will fill in on the popular morning chat show for one day while Robin Roberts is out on extended medical leave.

Although these projects would be enough to keep most people busy, Oprah Winfrey is also plotting to go behind-the-scenes of pop star Justin Bieber’s latest tour. The Examiner reports that Winfrey will devote the next airing of Oprah’s Next Chapter to the Canadian music sensation.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Oprah’s Next Chapter chronicles the life and times of various celebrities, discussing everything from their most rewarding highlights to the lowest points in their career. The program has devoted quite a bit of time to such celebrities as Usher, Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, and Stephen Colbert. The Justin Bieber-themed episode is presently scheduled to air on November 25.
