President Obama was traveling through the heart of Ohio’s car country on Tuesday, and he used that opportunity to once again talk about Romnesia.

Speaking to a group of autoworkers, President Obama pointed out that Mitt Romney has continued to shift his position on the auto industry. As he did during the second presidential debate, Obama also noted that Romney wanted to bankrupt the auto industry while offering no further assistance to workers.

The swing state of Ohio is auto industry heavy with one in eight workers earning their living from automobile manufacturing.

When speaking about Monday night’s debate, Obama joked that “Romnesia” was once again in the air when his opponent claimed that he would have helped automobile manufacturers avoid bankruptcy in 2009. Obama said of Romney’s statement:

“If you said that you love American cars during a debate, you’re a car guy – but you wrote an op-ed titled, ‘Let Detroit Go Bankrupt’ – you definitely have a case of Romnesia.”

Further pushing the bankruptcy lie, Obama told the crowd:

“Last night Gov. Romney looked you right in the eye, looked me in the eye, tried to pretend that he’d never said, ‘Let Detroit go bankrupt.’ Tried to pretend he meant the same thing I did when we intervened and worked to make sure management and workers got together to save the U.S. auto industry.”

Obama added:

“Pretended like somehow I had taken his advice.”

After his speech, President Obama returned to the White House. The POTUS continues his campaigning today in Davenport, Iowa.
