Kanye West Meltdown Details Exposed — Reportedly Handcuffed, Restrained, And Placed On Psychiatric Hold

Kanye West’s dramatic mental meltdown has officially begun. TMZ reports the rapper is currently staying at UCLA Medical Center while he undergoes a psychiatric evaluation. What led to West’s epic meltdown?

Law enforcement in the area checked on West after receiving a welfare check call in the afternoon. West was staying at his personal trainer’s home at the time of the call and was behaving “erratically.”

According to USA Today, L.A. Fire was called to the scene, but West had calmed down significantly by the time paramedics got to the home. Even still, the rapper refused to seek treatment. Police and West’s management team eventually convinced him to go to the hospital and he was handcuffed as part of standard protocol.

“An adult male, described as medically stable, was taken to an area hospital for further assessment,” a spokesman for the fire department explained.

Harley Pasternak, West’s trainer, has not commented on the incident. West was reportedly suffering from sleep deprivation at the time, and his behavior got so bad that somebody decided to call the authorities for help.

West has gone through a rough patch in recent weeks. Just prior to his meltdown, the rapper canceled the rest of his Saint Pablo tour and ignited Twitter when he told fans during a performance in Inglewood, California that he “would’ve voted for Donald Trump.” He then proceeded to slam Beyonce and Jay Z in a heated verbal attack.

“Call me, brah, you still ain’t call me. Jay-Z, I know you got killas, please don’t send them at my head. Just call me. Talk to me like a man,” he stated.

The comments came during a weekend concert in Sacramento. Fans were disappointed with West’s performance that Ticketmaster offered to refund all tickets. West had 21 stops left on his tour, which was scheduled to last until New Year’s Eve.

West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, only recently made her first public appearance since being held at gunpoint in Paris. Kardashian has not been spotted in L.A. yet, but there’s good indication that she’ll be headed back home soon to help West recover.

Kardashian was supposed to attend the Angel Ball in New York with Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, but she bailed on the event to catch a plane ride home. When asked about West’s decision to cancel the tour, Jenner explained that he was just too fatigued to perform.

“I think he’s exhausted,” she shared. “Just really tired. It’s a grueling tour.”

An insider previously told Us Magazine that Kanye West was going through a lot of stress between working on his fashion line and preparing for the tour. Not to mention all the time he spends away from the family.

“He’s just exhausted,” the insider shared. “He’s been working around the clock on fashion design He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both his own line and the Adidas line. He’s a notorious workaholic… so balancing both that work — which is extremely important to him — and the rigors of the tour every night, it really wore him out. All the time spent away from his family has been a stress on him, as well.”

Following West’s breakdown, several celebrity fans and friends have offered their support on social media.

“Praying for Kanye,” Janelle Monae wrote. “Praying he has the right energy surrounding him during this time. Sending peace and love.”

“Hey @kanyewest, get better man!” Emile Hirsch added. “People are making jokes right now, but having been there myself, I hope he gets the help he needs.”

The first signs of serious trouble began during West’s recent interview with Mirror. The rapper told the outlet that he dislikes when people view him “as an artist” and wants to get rid of words.

“I don’t think people are going to talk in the future. They’re going to communicate through eye contact, body language, emojis, signs,” he shared. “Imagine that. If everyone was forced to learn sign language.”

The ambiguous answers continued throughout the interview as West appeared unsure of how to answer some questions. At one point, West admitted that words sometimes prevent him from getting a point across.

“Maybe this will be an eloquent interview. It’s a 50/50 chance every time I open my mouth. At the end of the day, words get in the way,” he explained. Sometimes I can be distracting like this in conversations. Just creating memes every step of the way.”

Things turned a little heated when West was asked if he thought of himself as an artist. “I didn’t mention that I view myself that way. I just am,” he fired. “I never worded it like that. That’s really offensive. Why did you say I view myself like that? Do you not view me as an artist?”

Of course, West’s erratic behavior started well before the interview. At the beginning of the year, he told fans on social media that he was over $50 million in debt. He then started another feud with Taylor Swift and fought with his ex-girlfriend, Amber Rose.

Kanye West has not released a statement about the hospitalization.
