‘Dragon Ball Super’ Episode 69, 70 Might Be The Most Fun Fillers Ever

Dragon Ball Super Episode 69 and 70 would most likely be the most fun fillers in the entire anime to date, with two notable characters making a comeback. For Episode 69, Dragon Ball Super would welcome back Arale, a cute robot girl whose last appearance was way back during the times of the original Dragon Ball anime back in the 1980s. As for Episode 70, Beerus’ twin brother and rival, Champa, will be making a brief comeback to DBS, all for a good old game of baseball.

With the Future Trunks arc definitively concluded, Dragon Ball Super is set to begin its next big arc. While there has been no confirmation about the plot of the next saga would be, most speculations point to the possibility of another tournament being held, this time among the different universes in the Dragon Ball mythos. True enough, numerous clues seem to have already been dropped about the upcoming arc, with Gohan appearing to train once more and the Omni-King, who was the first to suggest such a tournament, making an appearance in the final episode of the Future Trunks saga.

Dragon Ball Super is speculated to feature about 100 episodes during its entire run. With the anime approaching its 70-episode mark, it appears that the next big arc would be its last. Before it enters into yet another epic saga, however, a series of filler episodes are set to be aired. DBS Episode 68’s plot has already been leaked, and the humor that would ensue from the characters’ conflicts about their contrasting wishes to Shenlong would surely be entertaining enough. On the other hand, Episode 71, which would involve the return of the assassin Hit, is speculated to be yet another nail-biting episode.

So what of Dragon Ball Super Episode 69 and 70? From what the title leaks and a recent interview with Son Goku’s Japanese voice actor show, these two episodes would most likely be one of the most light-hearted, entertaining Dragon Ball Super episodes in a while. According to Masako Nozawa, Son Goku’s voice actor, the return of Arale, who is set to appear in Episode 69, would be an extremely fun episode. One of the reasons behind this is because Arale is probably one of the most nostalgic nods Dragon Ball Super will ever give to its predecessors. If any, the character of Son Goku would definitely appreciate her return.

“I thought that Goku would be pleased. I thought that it would say ‘Goku hey, everyone will soon be your friend.’ Is it not cool that Goku and cute Arale are collaborating? It is already over generations, with children and their parents. It should be enjoyable for the whole family!”

Arale comes from Dragon Ball franchise creator Akira Toriyama’s previous manga, Dr. Slump, where the cute, little robot girl played the main character. She briefly appeared in a series of crossover episodes in the original Dragon Ball anime as a special guest and has never appeared in the DB canon since. While her appearance was very brief, her impact among fans was significant, mainly because of Goku, who was but a little boy himself then, admitted that Arale was stronger than him. Thus, her return in Dragon Ball Super would definitely be very entertaining.

The official plot summary for DBS Episode 69 has not been released yet, but an Anime News Network report stated that Arale’s return would focus on the World Invention Award event, where scientists such as Bulma would be participating. Incidentally, Goku would be working as a security guard in the event. Things, however, get complicated as a disgruntled inventor, Dr. Masahiro, appears to wreak havoc, with Arale at his side.

While Dragon Ball Super Episode 69 would most likely be a fun ride, what is known about Episode 70 seems to suggest yet another belly-busting Dragon Ball Super episode. DBS Episode 70 would involve the return of Champa, Beerus’ twin brother who kind of let himself go (he’s quite overweight compared with his lean and powerful brother). From what is known about the episode so far, it appears like Champa would be challenging the main characters to a game of baseball. Considering how huge baseball is in Japan and how much of a trope the sport has become among anime filler episodes, DBS Episode 70 would most likely incite a lot of laughs from fans.

Dragon Ball Super Episode 69 and 70 would most likely not be connected to the main storyline of the series, with the events in the episodes being independent of the anime’s canon. Despite this, however, filler episodes such as these might end up being really entertaining, especially after viewers dealt with the overwhelmingly dark atmosphere of the recently-concluded Future Trunks arc. With Dragon Ball Super seemingly preparing to enter the Omniverse Tournament arc, Episodes 69 and 70 might very well become the last lighthearted episodes in the anime for a pretty long time. Thus, these episodes could not really come at a better time.
