Megyn Kelly Talks About Donald Trump’s Refusal To Pursue Criminal Charges Against Hillary Clinton

Megyn Kelly’s The Kelly File was a tense one on Tuesday evening as she dealt with the fact that Donald Trump has stepped back from pursuing criminal charges against Hillary Clinton.

“For months on the campaign trail, Mr. Trump attacked his rival for conducting the highly classified business of the United States over a private, unsecured email server — all while she was Secretary of State,” Kelly said at the very beginning of her show.

Then, Kelly played a tape where Donald Trump said Hillary was weak, pathetic, and should be in jail for what she did with her emails. Another tape showed Donald Trump discussing the issue with Anderson Cooper on CNN. Trump told Cooper that everybody knows Hillary should be in prison.

As Megyn Kelly noted, Trump’s supporters screamed “Lock her up!” at many of his rallies, including one in Pennsylvania.

Trump, however, has backed off on his plan. As Megyn Kelly noted, Trump told the New York Times that he doesn’t want to hurt the Clintons, and that he would rather move on.

After Fox News correspondent Trace Gallagher summarized the fallout from conservatives after Trump revealed his decision, Megyn had Congressman Sean Duffy and Clinton Cash author Peter Schweizer debate the situation.

“I think it’s deeply disturbing. He shouldn’t be talking about this at all. Look, it’s not his job,” Schweizer told Kelly, adding that it’s unethical for a president-elect to try and interrupt an FBI investigation.

Kelly noticed the hypocrisy of some people who are backing Trump’s decision. She said that if it was Obama who did the same thing, they would be extremely angry.

“One of the reasons Donald Trump won in certain parts of the country is precisely because people thought the elite in this country are above the law,” Schweizer angrily pointed out, adding that Trump seems to be giving the message that the Clintons shouldn’t be investigated for what they’ve done.

Sean Duffy had a different point of view. He said that Clinton had been investigated (at least when it comes to the emails) and let off the hook, which is why that investigation needs to stop. However, Duffy also believes that the investigation into the Clinton Foundation probably will go forward.

“If you look back and put a political burn on Hillary, you can’t move forward with securing the border or tax reform…or health care,” Duffy defiantly told Megyn Kelly, who said Trump is still giving out a very different message than the one he did when running for office.

Still, a lot of Donald Trump fans remain angry. As the Daily Beast points out, the “Hillary for Prison” crew has turned on Trump. They quote Rush Limbaugh saying that he is hearing from a lot of people who are still livid at Hillary, even though she lost. They agreed with the new president that Hillary belongs in jail, and they want her there no matter what.

Donald Trump seems to have softened up since he won the election. Besides making nice with Hillary Clinton, Mr. Trump also met with journalists at the New York Times, a newspaper that has bashed him continuously on a professional and personal level, on Tuesday.Megyn Kelly noted the bias against Donald Trump on her show, despite being accused of being biased against Trump herself.
